Spontaneous collaboration for Amanda Palmer Palmer, who has recently been touring New Zealand as part of The Dresden Dolls, said she was first exposed to Jefferies' music when given one of his records by a friend. "Someone heard my music and then gave me one of his records which just spoke to my ...
feh, i can’t stand it. like, i literally can’t stand to listen to it for even two seconds. i can’t believe you like it! i thought you were joking until now.
As a pseudo-native Bostonian I rock the hometown band thing a bit, but hell, I was at their “anti-Valentines Day” show in Philly and, well, drunkenly kept doing the Boston shout-out thing, and Amanda said something to the effect of “Yr not missing anything in Boston” – boo to that!
I totally enjoyed the show – Brian Viglione (drummer) is most definitely one of the best percussionists I have ever seen live – and the theater involved with his playing makes it even better –
I don’t mind the makeup – I like the songwriting, and it’s a healthy change from the droll pop eminating from, well, everywhere – they also do very good Morrisey covers –
Anyway, I give the vid. a B.
And who is this arch nemesis in Boston you speak of Ms. “Curtie”, for I have an idea or two…
jd stone: i’d really rather not name names, mostly for her protection. but — if you’re in the music/film scene, you probably know who it is. sorry to be coy…
i heart the dresden dolls… they are so much fun, witty storytelling, but the really good song is not “girl anachronism” it’s “half jack.” that song gets me every time!
love it, of course. this is the best post-breakup album ever. In fact, it was after one particularly attentive listen to “Good Day” that I picked myself off the floor and went out dancing and never looked back.
Failed attempt at being irreverant and cinematically phobic. The mime makeup? It’s like a magician, no matter how you package it, it’s still socially unacceptable. They’re trying way too hard.
That’s a stumper… I want not to like it, but I do.
Shit.
That Video Hits One (ha ha) outta the park. But then again, I have a thing for mimes and girls who take high school plays really seriously.
On a related note, I know that video got all “Pope-dafied” but it looks mad Sam Bayer, y’all. Holla.
how much do i hate the dresden dolls?
THIS MUCH.
which is sad, because i rather like cacophonous punk cabaret tunes. but that mime makeup crap? too much.
anyway, amanda palmer is the arch-nemesis of one of my friends in boston, so like, i’m more than a little biased against anything she does.
(additionally: i was secretly pleased that their show at sxsw this year was at the hard rock cafe. ha!ha!ha!)

Yikes! bile

ha!
we just had them come in to tape for the tv show…i think i like the live version better?
swell kids.
it’s just a little too “i’m dancing as fast as I can” isn’t it? Are all of their songs like that?

it’s like brian eno’s first record without the wierd keyboard/guitar sounds. or nico. on speed. lots and lots of speed. nnngggehhhhh!
pure and utter crap.
Shaving you eyebrows is not cool. It isn’t cool for Whoopie Goldberg, it isn’t cool for Wesley Snipes, it’s. just. not. cool.
I’m feelin this. Amanda P. has a Karen O. sexiness to her. Also, you can’t take your eyes of the video it’s great eye candy.
Why is there any doubt any anyone’s mind that this shit is pure genius?
This is truly filled with horrible brilliance.
i hate it. i couldnt finish it.

They were #1 on my list of “top 5 bands that you love that I hate” last year…and I see them around town everywhere. no thanks!
I vote “crap”.
What the fuck was that?
worst piece of shit ever.
ugh. i don’t get why anyone would like this.
Wow, you guys are such haters. The Dresden Dolls are awesome! Great video!
what are you, a fucking idiot? that video is seriously terrible. you’d have to be retarted to like it.
loved it.
bite me.

I had to stop it, rewind and then play it through to make it soak in. Now I can’t stop laughing like a madwoman and it’s fucking 2 am.
Why are these mimes on speed? Who gave them permission to be random and talk? WHO?!
The Dresden Dolls are the best band ever!!!
And I hope they become really big!
Of course I love the video!
