I have a first-gen iPod (and XP) and when I buy iTunes they can’t be transferred to the device. Only MP3s work. Anyone else have that problem?

Maybe I should just get the fourth-gen.

UPDATE: I just accidentally deleted my entire iPod.

I had that problem too – you have to download new software for the iPod and that should fix it.

    jk

  4. get the 40GB … i promise you won’t be sorry.

  5. i have a 2nd gen and love it. i seriously want this new one. 20GB for $299.95? can’t go wrong.

  6. or just get an iRiver, and say fuck you to those breaking piece of shit iPods.

  7. I have a 2nd gen (10G up from 5G, unless that’s still 1st gen) and I’ve had no problems except in terms of size. Don’t you get the updates from Software Updater? I hated the buttons on the new iPods so I’m psyched that they put the scroll wheel back. I’m deciding between the 40G and next week’s 60G.

even with this newest generation, they still seem to have crappy headphones. am I the only one that left those in the box?

  9. never once used those silly white headphones

    never used the headphones either

itunes music store is not available in my country yet, but having browsed the “store”, i have been quite dissapointed. it seems like 60% of the artists that i’ve searched for aren’t available.

but i guess it will improve

Ugh, sorry to hear about you deleting your entire iPod. I did the same thing last week and had only about 5% of my music backed up on a hard drive. Not good times!

  13. i-pods just seem to be in the “in” thing and so subsequently all the rich bastards and the pretencious twats all have them(casual observations)…i have no desire to be like them so i’m keeping my fairly old 57mb storage mp3 player for awhile yet :p

Am I the only one who actually prefers the Archos Jukebox mp3 recorder. 20 GB, can bootleg shows and everything. I mean, it is big, but sturdy.

I can also grab files from every computer and play Tetris on it. Amazing. But everybody hates the Archos, it’s cause they’re French me thinks.

I own the Archos AV340 (portable audio/video player) and I love it for ripping DVD’s onto… but I love the iPod for my music.
