When the guitars kick about in a minute in … so awesome. Clever wordplay too.
Guided By Voices – “Window Of My World”
It’s a lovely track from their farewell album (MP3 courtesy of Insound).
GBV are insufficiently represented in my collection, but what am I gonna do? Dude’s recorded like a thousand songs. Someone needs to make me a mix.

Seriously, Scott? I was looking for something to do this afternoon, and making a GBV mix sounds like a good idea. Email me your address.
Um, to this address (d’oh!): pauletc@DELETEcomcast.net
hey, i’d like a GBV mix too!
Maybe it can be passed around from person to person.
The one I just finished is fucking hot, though! 31 tracks of lo-fi/hi-fi Pollardness.
hey scott, i have a beginner’s mix i’ve been circulating to friends. and i’m working on an intermediate mix, too. let me know which you want and i’ll totally hook you up!
Catherine: I went pretty superficial with mine (lots of singles, fan favorites, etc.). Also, I only covered ’92 to ’03. I’m sure you could make an excellent companion disc.
i need one too! anyway you could list the track listing so i can make one for myself? gbv is just one of those bands i totally missed the boat on.
I’m sure not everybody’s favorite GBV songs will be the same, but I hope Catherine will back me up on most of these:

Acorns and Orioles
As We Go Up, We Go Down

The Best of Jill Hives is a gem.
The Best of Jill Hives is a gem.
i would love to have a GBV mix tape. i definitely don’t have enough of their music.
i think the main reason why i like “motor away”: p sings it an octave too high. so when i sing it (like a cat), it’s like it should be done like that. does that make sense? probably not.
No “Glad Girls”?
nice! thanks!
No “Don’t Stop Now”? Scott, if you dig “Window of My World” you’ll cream over “Don’t Stop Now.”
