    She’s hot.

  2. Yeah, it’s great to see Juliana Hatfield on the cover of STAR, especially since that’s actually Renee Zellweger looking like death.

  3. janine  |   Posted on Nov 8th, 2004

    JJ, humor! Try it.

  4. carolina  |   Posted on Nov 8th, 2004

renee looks so hot with that dark hair. she look insane. we need more people in hollywood to look like this b/c it’s always bleached blonds. i think she look’s like a updated version of morticia adams. and juliana hatfield was never ths hot!!!

Wasn’t it Bonnie Fuller who once said Renee was too fat to appear at her BJD weight on the cover of Bazaar or whatever she was head of at the time? Now post BJEoR-weight Renee is too thin for Bonnie Fuller’s Star. Poor Renee can’t win her approval. Which is it, Bonnie? (Answer the question, Claire!)

  6. Big Juliana love over here as well… though I don’t really see the similarity with Renee. Renee could only wish to ever look that adorable.

Look at the poor girls arms for god sake! They’re all wrinkled like my nans. I take it the whole cancer victim look is in then? Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Demi Moore, Jennifer Aniston and Coutney Cox are all looking rather skeletal too. Shall we all give macrobiotic eating a try and have a race? first to see their last heartbeat trickle down thier veins through Renee style translucent skin is the winner. The prize is a shrine on stereogum for being a matyr to showbiz.

i like the song, i’ve never heard her before.
what genre of music would this be?

side note: renee is not that skinny, no way! uh UH! someone had to have done something that picture.

  9. This is the best that Renee has looked in years!

  10. And to think, I was just listening to Juliana’s “Only Everything” earlier this morning…

  11. Nice song choice. “Bottles & Flowers” is one of my fave JH tunes. And Renee’s truly got that Juliana “Some Girls” cover look going on.

  12. janine  |   Posted on Nov 8th, 2004

We’ve got to encourage her to not make the “I just ate a lemon” face.

  13. meg white  |   Posted on Nov 8th, 2004

uhhh, does anyone else think that Renee is starting to look like Meg White?

Is Jack enforcing some weird sister-wife Vertigo stuff on her?

  14. janine  |   Posted on Nov 8th, 2004

For a Meg White comparison, I’d have to see the teeth.

  15. Hey, where is her drug buddy?

  16. that was kate betts at bazaar, fyi.

That Star cover looks suspiciously posed to me…that’s not a paparazzi shot.

  18. Joshuafantastic  |   Posted on Nov 8th, 2004

dude I totally own that CD!

by far one of the best CDS I ever bought back in 1995.

  23. Didn’t Juliana Hatfield appear on My So Called Life once, or is that my imagination…

  24. Yep, she appeared as an angel on the Xmas episode of My So-Called Life. She performed on the show and contributed the song “Make it Home” to the soundtrack.

I think being too thin is a hell of an improvement over the porcine population that I’ve seen since being back to thate States. Been here there weeks now after being gone for five years. To quote Denis Leary, “put down the fucking fork.” Also, what’s with the backlash against thin people? Why is it okay to say here’s the new pencil brigade/preying mantis/ swizzle sticks and discretely ignore the fuckers getting forklifted to the ER and the sci-fi porky creatures who wheel around those little carts with rolls hanging flopped over the edges at the grocey store? I’m not saying the cultural turntable should go back to heroin chic or anthing. I’m just personally stating that I would rather look at this than some of these bizarre creatures with their pyramids of food at whatever local all you cat eat restaurant. My foreign pals and associates that I’ve chatted with or whatever, find this phenomena to be laughable. One of the first things they usually say is…ohh you’rre an American, but your not fat. The crudest kudos go to Oleg from KIev, ex-military guy, he calls those what Americans may consider healthy voluptuous, tits and ass and roll or two, “fuckable quilts”. Wheee.

  29. bobette  |   Posted on Nov 10th, 2004

Yes, and now we should all be required to put down our height/weight ratio before posting to this board! Yikes.

  30. Miss Mea-Mea  |   Posted on Nov 11th, 2004

I love how every few years Star and People trot out pictures of celebrities with their pompous “Too Thin?” special. Blah blah, yadda yadda. How many times has she (and Kate Winslet and Liv Tyler and Britney) been in the tabloids with some sort of shitty candid shot and the caption “Out of control!”

I wish people didn’t freak out so much and feel like they have to go to extremes to defend the Voluptous Woman. The truth is that some overweight people take Hollywood’s obsession with thin as an excuse, so they don’t have to change their own behavior or feel bad. “What a disgrace! Look at all those stick insects! Real people don’t look like that – pass the doughnuts!” I know one person who refers to all thin women as anorexic and says “I’m a real woman with muscles.” Dude. The only muscle you have is what you need to carry that bulk of yours from the fridge to the couch and back.

No mistake, I have my share of lard. I just think we need a hefty dose of reality. That Hollywood is thin and that it sets a poor example for young people, does not take away from the fact that over half of America is overweight. I don’t remember type II diabetes being such a comman problem 20 years ago, do you?

Just my own opinionated 2 cents. Fire away!

Fat-bashing is for Craigslist. Stereogum’s for pop-tart bashing.

  32. Cali  |   Posted on Nov 11th, 2004

Ohh, now we’ve got what we should write goin’ down here to. I don’t like either the sticks or the fatties. We gotta wake up!

  33. Hunt  |   Posted on Nov 11th, 2004

Oh, we’ve never, ever said anything about Brit-Brit’s rolls. Stereogum would never do a craigslist. *rolls eyes*

  34. janine  |   Posted on Nov 12th, 2004

I like purity. I go to Craigslist for one kind of post and stereogum for another. Doesn’t the thread seem to be meandering a bit? The key here is schendfreude, like when I made fun of Meg White’s jacked-up grill. That last sentence had no real bearing on the convo, really, I just wanted to make fun of those teeth again. Tha’ chick makes Jewel look good. Damn!

  35. Janine  |   Posted on Nov 12th, 2004

BTW, Brit has a poem up! Why no post? I realize David Byrne is more important — fa fa faaa, fa fa fa fa, faa faa — but still!
