Welcome back to the Stereogum fold, Arcade Fire. I’m glad scott isn’t cowtowing to all of the haters out there. The Arcade Fire are the real deal.

What’s great is that there seems to be about 100 times more articles and posts grumbling about “all that hype about the Arcade Fire” than actual said hype. Where is it??
Anyway, they simply have great music and that Byrne performance is fantastic.

Now if all the Arcade Fire fanatics would go out and buy the first 5 Talking Heads albums I’d be happy.

It’s funny that both this NYT article and the Spin article it seems to be lifted from talk about this as if it were new. For Canadians, people like the Dears and–godforfend–Sam Roberts have been around for years. The Unicorns have been around so long they’ve broken up! Vice left Montreal for New York like five years ago! Next thing you know they’ll be talking about all these great “new” bands from Toronto, like Broken Social Scene and The New Pornographers.

And is it just me, or was the article obnoxiously anti-francophone?

Oh, and Scott, I don’t know if you had anything to do with this, but I HATE THAT AD BEFORE THE COMMENTS PAGE. Really, very irritating.

Back in November, I had the pleasure not only to see The Arcade Fire play at the Halifax Pop Explosion, but to eat pancakes with Richard (the tall and lovable redheaded dude) and Jeremy (the drummer) the morning of the show.
Super nice dudes, super nice music.

Plus they have the cutest violinist on Earth.

  11. I always thought Neighborhood #3 (Power Out) had a talking heads feel to it….

  12. Arcade Fire is awesome but forget them for the moment. Now I am obsessed with finding the Hasidic reggae artist named Matisyahu that I found out about on the David Bynne site…. wonderfully ODD.

  21. Hallo!
