Did anyone else get tickets for Oasis at the Hollywood Bowl, or am I the only belevier?. I’ve pretty much lost all hope that they’ll ever release anything near the quality of the first two albums, and this single proves it, but damn, if those first two aren’t classics.

I got ticket to the Hollywood Bowl too. And I agree with you, Definitely Maybe is my favorite of theirs followed by What’s The Story. Wasn’t a huge fan of what came after.
Any Oasis fan owns Wibbiling Rivalry and has the Mike Flowers Pop song. My ex boyfried even had a Liam blow up doll that came with NME or Select or something like that. No doubt he will be at the MSG show. As much as I thought he was obsessed, I’m sure there were people who beat him out for it. While waiting on a line for tickets to the Paramount show, my ex boyfriend walked up with his shaggy hair, John Lennon glasses and corduroy jacket with fur trim and everyone turned around and looked at him in disbelief. I was never sure if that was good or bad thing. HA! Needless to say we ended up with last row seats thanks to Ticketbastard!!!

I’m travleing to see them in Detroit. Their last record wasn’t bad (just horribly produced) and sounded amazing live. Much much better than I expected.
That’s the problem with Oasis, they need a producer. Noel as producer is just terrible. Someone needs to rein in these songs. There is no reason this song is 5 minutes long. Oasis has had some long opus-type songs that were amazing, but to justify 5 minute plus on this song just shows where the problem is.
“Be Here Now” may be one of the worst produced albums of the 90s. The mix is so bad, it’s like there’s no one playing bass on any of the tracks…
I was listening to Be Here Now for the first time in many many years and burst out laughing. I couldn’t get through Magic Pie because I was laughing so hard. 7 minutes of a melody you wrote while taking a shit? You’ve got to be kidding me? Man, that takes balls to put out a record so bad, yet so long… I miss the days when I loved them enough to buy Wibbling Rivalry. Sad days gone by.

If there is one thing I’m sick of hereing supposed music intelligcals it’s that Damon Alburn should be saulted for trying new things. Not if they are as bad as Think Tank. Or the (exuse the pun) extremly one-demensional gorillaz. Oasis have evolved and changed their style but without alienating their fans as Blur did. Being experimental is just a handy mask for a lack of creativity. Listen to Standing on The Shoulder of Giants and tell me Oasis havn’t changed their style.
Lyla is a very good song. Not experimental but is poppier than anything they have done in along time. Maybe too long and the production is pretty poor but hopefully the leaked song isn’t the compleated version.

People who always need the flavor of the month bullshit band are the worst music fans in the world. I don’t believe in sticking with a band till the bitter end…I did w/ the Pumpkins, but that end wasn’t so bitter; they quit while they were ahead.
I liked Be Here Now, so in my mind, Oasis made three unbelievable albums. After that, a lot of the mid-90′s alt-rock bands needed a makeover, so Oasis comes out with SOTSOG. Wasn’t great; so what? A few gems were on there. Heathen Chemistry was a bit better, flowed better, was more polished. Now it seems they’re coming into their own…even the fans who say they’ve been slightly disappointed by being able to listen in on the album pre-release have great things to say about most of the songs.
Bottom line is, Oasis are being Oasis..why should they try to be someone else, like Damon Albarn going out and making himself into a fucking cartoon? That’s who he is, and the Gallagher brothers are who they are; old-school rockers and the last of their breed. Everyone else is about a career in music, instead of having a good fucking time making music. I like Coldplay, for example, but it’s so obvious they’re career musicians. What do you call U2? I mean come on; they are now career musicians. I liked Pop, it was deep, slightly experimental, had some great lyrics and great meaning in it, and they scrapped it because they were scared that no one understood their huge lemon coming out on stage. They bought into the bullshit. Oasis never has. That’s what separates them, for better or for worse.

Although i am a massive Oasis fan i have to say that the album can’t be any worse than SOTSOG which was truly awful bar 1 song and Noel Gallagher knew it. Thankfully he seems to have put a lot of time and effort into “Don’t Believe the Truth” and lets not forget that the best songs on the album are always released later on. Still, i recon that this is a good song even if it could/should have been rocked up a bit. Will easily get to number 1 as there are so many oasis fans who will buy anything that the band release ie songbird.

Oasis are definitely one of the best bands of the nineties and could still be now if it wasn’t for noel gallagher and liam taking too bloody long over things. heathen chemistry was a good enough album, no shit songs, but no exceptionally good ones. standing on the shoulders, perfectly good album – the best starting track fuckin in the bushes, etc, and who feels love? and go let it out? were the most laid back, cool songs noels done. also, little james, shame about the lyric “play with your toys, even though they make noise” but it’s still listenable, and enjoyable. noel comes up with a beautiful line – “do you keep the receipts for the friends that you buy?” its all good. oasis have not made a bad album in their long, interesting career. liams voice is still unrivalled since billy corgan, kurt cobain, john lennon, jeff buckley – these days you just can’t find someone with such a melodic but gruff voice and that’s why lyla sounds so fresh, liams voice, in contrast with his shit performance at glastonbury when he couldnt reach the notes for “stop crying your heart out”. first listen, you think, it’s a long one, but that catchy chorus is exactly what they needed for a FIRST LISTEN and that’s all we can say. the radio built it up and it delivered, not without criticism, but its done its job, and it improves with every listen. i dont think it’s right to say oasis are back, they never left. but they aren’t just making records for the hell of it, they believe in their music, and they always have done. and lyla is definitely going to get to number one, not because “all the oasis fans will buy it” and incidentally “songbird” is one of the best love songs i’ve ever heard and it’s so simple to play as well, but because it’s a nice song, a catchy song, and lets face it if oasis provide the song it’ll get the airplay it needs. i really hope oasis bring out an album good enough to shut up all you “not as good as def maybe, or whats the story” romanticists but ultimately they wont cos you all wouldnt know it if it hit you in the face.

All I cam say is that there are plenty of good bands out there, the Killers, the Hiver, Snow Patrol etc – but I would bet my life that none of them will still have number 1 albums ten years into there carreers!!!! People say Oasis are shit cus the albums are’nt as good as the first two, thats not an insult to the recent albums but a compliment to the first two, they are awesome and will be remembered forever. By the way DamonC69, BE HERE NOW in my opinion was a good album. It was just unfairly critised as it was the follow up to Whats the Story Morning Glory. People expected it to be bigger and better and lets be realistic, It wasn’t. Dont get me wrong I thought it was a good album but fair enough it was to physcadelic and songs on it did seem to grag on. I think the shortest song on there was I HOPE, I THINK, I KNOW which is about 4min 22secs (I think) and the longest was ALL AROUND THE WORLD which is about ten minutes long. And although many songs on the album consist on daft rhymes and silly mobile phone jingles in the background, I kinda like it. But it was mentally produced which had great afecct on the Album. Maybe it was something to do with the whole band and producer Owen Morris Being cocaine addicts at the time. Which clearly has a drastic affect on the album as you can hardly hear a bass line on most of their songs (poor Guigsy). I’ll be the first to admit that the album does have some daft tunes like Magic Pie, Be Here Now but I just think there Fuckin’ funny Y’know. The album sold something like 8 million copies so they must have done something right on it. Songs like D’ya Know what I mean, Stand by me, All Around the World, Dont Go Away, I hope, I think, I know and its Gettin Better man, I think are great!. I think it’s probably the most uplifting OASIS album.

Listen thru DM and WTSMG again, and count the number of songs which repeat to fade, toooo many and for too long. I actually prefer their later stuff as it has less of this, and seems more “tight”.
I realise any criticism of DM or WTSMG is unusual, but i dont think they are their best albums… any one else agree

And cov oasis fan, how you can say that every album they’ve done is brilliant, I’ll never know!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOTSOG has 2 realy good songs the rest are poor, Heathen C has 4 good songs the rest are poor, you need to open your mind a bit mate, I used to be like you always believing Noel’s own hype about how amazing the albums are going to be, but even Noel can now admit when he’s done a shit song, he once said that SOTSOG was better than WTSMG for god’s sake!!!!!!!!

Oasis are awesome and are my favouirite band but they have done some crap songs! Little James, its very poor but just cus its Liams first album track people pretend its good – I can see a liar, Put yer money where your mouth is, they are poor oasis tracks!!!!
ANd don’t tell me Oasos are their own band, Noel has ripped off just about anyone there is to rip off, the only reason he’s got away with it is cus he admits it, and that the tracks sound great!!!!

Lyla is a great track, and THANK GOD Oasis are BACK. I mean really, some of the total and utter shit that is put out these days make me want to puke. Oasis are a band that polarise people beacuse of one cold hard fact: They matter. Plenty of other bands come and go without trace. We’ll all be singing along to Lyla and every other track of the new album years from now, savour the moment.
Sick of all the pricks who are bitchin about oasis copyin this and copyin that. Fact is that most songs sound vaguely similar to other songs, its hard to get a song that isnt. Oasis havnt been around for 11 years because of doing cover versions like some shitty Westlife type band who will be forgotten long before oasis even stop makin records. Oasis are a great band and the amount of fans they have, records they’ve sold and sell out concerts theyve player prove this.

Saw the video for Lyla last night on channel 4 premiere and its fucking brill i can’t stop playing the song it’s not as hard hitting as some of there other stuff but it’s very catchy and the chorus and video are great!
COuldnt agree more with “J” and “Shakermaker” awsome song, even more than awsome band.
We all know not to expect anything groundbreaking from Oasis, but they’ve never done anything groundbreaking!!!!
OAsis have been my choice of band ever since i heard Defo Maybe, but RYAN YOU HEAD IN YOUR OWN ARSE PRICK people are entitled to their opinion and are allowed to dislike oasis if they choose…..its people like you that give oasis a bad name, if people dont agree with oasis being awesome then let them, theres fuck all wrong with that!! and J at April 7 – Noel has always stated that he takes riffs and tunes straight out of other songs, its the fact that he’s honest about it that has gained him respect…But the important thing is that they fuckin rock – I konw my view is often negative its just that that with the last few albums ive gotten involved with the hype and although Hethen Chemistry was good it wasnt amazing, although I have to say Probably All in the Mind is one of my top ten oasis songs!!
One thing that is certain though is that im going to See Oasis in MAachetser and its gonna be the gig of the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
