Pras, who previously turned Kenny/Dolly duet “Islands In The Stream” into the infectious “Ghetto Supastar,” is now looking for inspiration in U2′s back catalog. The Fugee’s new single samples “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.” He tells Rolling Stone:
“I got Bono’s cell number, and I called and asked him. He said, ‘Really, my biggest record of all time?’ I sent him the idea, he played it for the rest of the band, and they loved it. Bono called me back and said, ‘Listen, I’ve never cleared a record for anyone, but I’m a fan of the Fugees and a fan of you. If this record can help you, go ahead and take it.’”
Not sure if I love it or hate it. I think I wanna hate it, but I sorta love it. Pras’ new album “drops” (as the kids say) on Flag Day.

Ugh. That’s dreadful. And where’s the sample? That doesn’t even sound like Edge’s guitar.
Umm, yeah, it’s not very innovative or that original at all, somehow I was expecting more from the write-up, serves me right. It does have that “Ghetto Superstar” vibe to it – i.e. girl singing over recognizable riff and thats all that sticks in your head.
It just seems like the 80s were so cool and the last innovative & inventive decade to date. It seems like the 90s and 2000′s are alot of “retro” music, fashion , and movies…..who knows maybe I’m just like every other person that came of age and is partial to those years…but I feel like we were more futuristic and creative than all the “copycats” today.
that just bored the absolute shit out of me. wow that rap is so f’ing original. not. BLAH.
This is the last time anyone will hear this song. It can’t possibly be successfull and is quite miserable.
Sounds like someone got wind of how much money Black Eyed Peas made last year.
I’m sad that exists. Bono, shame on you.
oh my, I reaaallly dont like it. But Rap actually is very original. Listen to some out of the mainstream stuff and find some of the most creative music out there right now. Saying rap is not original and generalizing like that is like saying all rock is lame just because Linkin Park exists.
It’s not as good as Ghetto Superstar or Killing Me Softly — his massive hit retro raids, but it’s okay. I’m sure when I’ve heard it 300 times, I’ll start to like it. At least he actually adapts the track unlike Puffy who just plays old records and raps slowly over them.
And to 80′s teen… there was nothing good in the 90′s? Nothing mildly original? And there was no pop schlock in the 80′s that filled the airwaves with derivative drivel? Me thinks thou art subscribing too much significance to one’s personal adolescent experience. Perhaps you are merely drunk on nostalgia and not being a objective listener. I bet life seemed more fun and full of opportunity when you were younger too right? Oh, and remember that one time we put the flaming bag of dog shit on the old guy’s porch and he called the shit poop?
Greatest night of our lives.
Ugh, what were you thinking, Bono???
i was saying that THIS rap was completely unoriginal, i am well aware that a lot of it is, just not this crap, you would think bono would have known that, but nah brah
Couldn’t get the track to work. On the Puffy tip I saw one of the funniest interviews with him just recently it was supposed to be P Diddy day in Vegas and on the day that Vegas wanted to honor him he couldn’t make it for whatever reason. And the E! channel was asking him about the honor and when he was going to recive it and he said that he was “The Black Frank Sinatra” and that everyone in Vegas and the rest of the world knows that he is “The Black Frank Sinatra”. The sad part is that he was really serious, he truly belives that he is “The Black Frank Sinatra”.
this is great – all you whacked out u2 fans (of which i am too) who are silly enough to not want a track that’s 12 years hold now to be reworked should broaden your musical horizons. move to the left the next time at your at the record shop – you know see what’s happening in the A-T.
We need to adopt an attitude that embraces the likes of this adaptation of one of U2′s biggest tracks of all time, it’s a huge compliment to the Four Irishmen…if it helps acts like this, then that’s great, no harm done, infact maybe increase the U2 base of fans even further than it already is, but it’s U2′s version that will always stand the test of time and we all know that!!!! God bless them:)
It is quite good, bu U2 is better
good song, you u2 fans are so fickle anytime someone hands you something new like “try it” you already got your mind made up not to like it
GREAT SONG!! I wasn’t a U2 fan, but now I am! It’s a fun rendition and I will buy the Pras CD and the U2 CD on the same day =)
A long awaited new stuff from Pras seems to be worth.A nice song but sounds like Ghetto Supastar.I respect all u U2 fans but think that this song is worth listening a lot of times more than u think.I`m a great fan of Pras…now the U2,as well…
not that bad…
i’m a french U2 fan. in 10 years i didn’t heard any U2 cover really exciting… maybe because i’m a U2 fan…
but the bass’n drum quote in the beginning gives a personnality to the song.
then the chorus comes, and you got some r’n b new stuffs, but if i was in my car listening to the radio, i would not change the channel…
of course, the sample is not the clearliest thing in the song, so what? whatever, nevermind…
rock’n roll doesn’t need r’n b to exists,
but coexisting , taking advices in each other,
that’s an idea that can change the world
(and a big up to achtungU2 website and all his members…)
WOW! This is an amazing track. I don’t understand you hataz, do you hate Pras? Are ya’ll jealous? I remember how thight this guy was rhyming on The Score. He does not have the same kind of deep voice he used to have but this is still a very good song. I hope things will work well for him on his upcoming album Win, Lose or Draw supposly out next Tuesday June 14th 2005 or later if he chooses to push it back. Congratulations to you Pras. Peace!
Yuk!! Horrible
I just saw the video for this song and had to buy the track. I luv it. Why does everyone have to be so difficult…appreciate all music.
Thank You. I never saw the video out on TV yet but I saw it on the net. I can’t wait for it to come out. This is going to be one of the biggest hit in 2005. Peace!
this song can move mountains. LISTEN to the message. LOOK at the news of today… and not a single swear word in the whole song. kudos to you pras!
Awesome song, played it over and over!!
