So where can I pick up that Believer music issue? Does Eggers only sell his wares at pirate stores or can I buy it at the local B&N?

This whetted my appetite. The Decemberists – “Bridges & Balloons” (MP3 link expired)

  1. they could write a thesaurus together, joanna and the fey singer for decembrists, whatshisname. it would be called under-used adjectives.

It came out late as hell here in Nashville. The Spoon track covering that old Yo La Tango song makes the issue worth tracking down. Not to metion the Amy Sedaris “advice” column.

  3. You can get it at your local B&N or Borders, yes.

  4. could you post the interpol mp3 from six feet under please?

  5. actually, the Borders in NYC don’t carry it, I got mine at Barnes & Noble though. The odd thing about the Believer is that each issue actually comes out in the month of the issue, unlike every other mag where by June you can only find the August issues on newsstands.

  6. Check out my remix! I’ve put the two songs together.

That’s nice. I hate Johanna Newsom, and someone managed to make one of her tunes enjoyable.

  8. Oh, and its available out here on the west coast at all the majors, from what Ive seen.

that cover is really nice. i like it a lot.

  10. Yes! Thanks for posting this! I quickly realized that one of the two places that sells Believer in western washington is two blocks from me… they were out. I bussed over and grabbed one of these quickly-dissapearing issues and now I am having an indie-yuppie wet dream.

  11. Mr. Stereogum,
Despite the conveniences of the local B+N, if you are NYC local, you MUST take a trip to the Superhero Supply Store (aka McSweeneys East) located on 5th Avenue in Park Slope. There are plenty of Believers, but So Much More. Take a day trip!

you can get Believer at either of those Bedford Ave. bookstores, too.

  13. People keep talking about that Spoon cover like it’s new, but isn’t that the same one that’s already been released on two or three different compilations?

Its the indie yuppiefied verison of the song.I still think her verison is way better. This verison seems to take all the real emotion out of it. Joanna Newsome is a true orginal, while Colin and his gang will be making music for volvo commericals someday soon. Just you watch. They are so overated much like Death Cab for Cutie is.It’s so “like blah”.

  15. i always pick up my believer issues at the st. marks bookshop, 8th and 3rd.

    Yes! Well noted.
