I did some converting/trimming to that Floyd video torrent. Enjoy:
Pink Floyd – “Money (Live 8 7/2/05)” (MP3 link expired, though better ones are floating around)
You can get a righteous MP3 of U2′s “One” here or here (via Mr. Vegan).
Add your Live 8 audio links in the comments.

I don’t have any mp3s, but I posted 2 short vids from my camera of Will Smith and Maroon 5′s Neil Young cover on my website. (click my name) The clips are rather shitty, but give a view of what it was like to be there a little.
Oh my god….MTV/VH1 coverage was unbelievably awful, an embarrassment really. Just as David Gilmore was about to launch into what many would say is one of the greatest guitar solos of all time in “Comfortably Numb,” they cut away to their preppy/loser VJ’s who then comment on how awesome Pink Floyd is, then cut to commercial. One of the biggest flubs in music TV history. They repeatedly cut away in the middle of songs to air commercials. The BBC broadcast was aired without ANY commercials and uninterrupted. MTV has gotten so bad they should just give up on music all together and run the Real World/Jessica Simpson/Travis Barker sh*t.
The worst (that I saw on Australian TV’s limited coverage) was Craig David and Tina Arena’s cover of Come Together. *shudders*
hmmm i thought most of the channel 9 coverage was pretty bad. why did they insist on embarassing australia by including our paltry standards of talent via tina arena, richard wilkins, darren hayes and keith urban?
considering they didn’t have enought precious minutes in between excruciatingly long ad breaks to include the who, the killers or bjork…
and has anyone seen an mp3 link of pete doherty and elton doing “children of the revolution”?
AOL Music has posted full clips of each of the Pink Floyd songs from Live 8. The guys sounded simply amazing. Gilmour is better than ever and it was great to see Roger Waters on stage with them. They sounded like a totally rejuvenated band from the one I saw in their last tour in ’94 (without Waters) and for the better – There’s something to be said for chemistry. There’s an energy with Waters’ presence that just isn’t there otherwise.

Rosie, you can get the mp3 for “children of the revolution” at libble.com (last I checked, it requires registration).
Thanks for the link Alex! I agree, Pink Floyd was brilliant. Their perfomance made one thing very apparent….They, even now, are so much tighter than most of the younger bands out there. If Pink Floyd decide to tour again, it would break all existing box office records (cha-ching!)
Here’s an interview with Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason regarding Live 8:

July 4 edition of LA Times totally rips MTV & VH1 coverage: “Pathetic, embarrassing, and disrespectful to the music, the musicians, and the public.”
Pink Floyd fans should check out the new album by Long-View titled “Mercury.” When I heard their song “Further,” I thought it was a new Gilmour tune.
that One mp3 is FANTASTIC. I dont care that some think Bono is playing jesus with his ONE campaign. He is a fucking class act. I saw U2 in vancouver and it was the best (larger venues) show I’ve ever seen. I hope they keep making albums until they die. All those people who say things like ‘U2 needed to quit while they were ahead’ don’t know shit. Songs like ‘one’ need to stay on the radio forever. Listen to the lyrics…shit we need that reminder every so often. I think that’s it for my U2 rant for today. Can’t wait to check back later and read all the ignorant comments about how they suck!
great post, loveanddeath. I completely agree. It’s time to stop grinding down the do-gooders of the world.
McCartney & U2′s “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” marked the first-ever live performance of that song by a Beatle. It’s available at iTunes here. They’ve also got “The Long And Winding Road” for download.
gum, there’s no way that’s true. I’m pretty sure Sgt Pepper is on more than one of Macca’s live albums (Tripping the Light Fantastic and Back in the US, maybe?)
It is true, first ever live performance of Sgt. Peppers. Macca said it himself, last time he played it was the recording of the album!
load up winamp. open up the media library. in the lefthand browse select “winamp tv”, then sort the results by date. hq video footage of the majority of live8 has been gradually added over the last couple of days.
Pink Floyd and U2 were both brilliant. I haven’t seen U2 live since the Joshua Tree tour (I’m probably dating myself here—that was like ’87). Anyway, it’s still one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. The last song they did was “40″ that night. The parking deck was about a mile from the venue, and the whole crowd walked en masse back to their vehicles still singing that song. F’in beautiful, man.
i was watching/enjoying the who’s performance and i was anticipating their performance of “Baba O’ Reily”. sure enough, MTV had to take a commercial break in between the fuckin set. unbelievable. if anyone has an mp3 or video of that performance that would be lovely.
OK STEREOGUM LISTEN UP.
you used to be funny. but now, you just update on music and shit not a lot of people care about. we want the britney! the hohan! give us gossip! or else we’re all going to turn to http://www.pinkisthenewblog.com for our entertainment purposes. Sorry man, but you have to make this better.
Oh and by the way, did you know you were in an issue of Teen People recently? I noticed no one said anything about it and I found that kind of strange. Good job, but um..you still need improvement.
More gossip. Really.
Amanda, I hate you.
More cowbell gummer!!!!!
Amanda. I hate you, too.
Sorry, Gum, but McCartney must have a terrible memory: “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” is featured on the ‘Tripping The Live Fantastic’ live album documenting his 1990 world tour. Hell, they even had a videoclip of that performance in rotation on MTV for a while at the end of the year.
http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0703-24.htm
allmusic lists the occurence of the song on the previous released live disc as well. perhaps sir paul was trying to forget ‘tripping the live…’, since it seems to be a real stinker.

Not a big Linkin Park fan, but their set with Jay-Z was pretty awesome.
Bonio bores me, and his ego irritates me. Did anyone notice how the last U2 single was a direct rip-off of Snow Patrol? They’ll do anything to try to keep themselves on top of the shit-heap, and 90% of their songs are blatant rip-offs of other peoples’ styles anyway – from the Stones to the Velvet Underground. Little brother copying the elder siblings and thinking, ‘hey I could do that too’. But Bonio is merely replacing substance (originality) with style, like a pair of supposedly cool wraparound shades. U2 have built a career on pastiche and posturing. Nothing more. Personally I find them almost as vapid as the Grateful Dead. But that’s another story.
Amanda, read Entertainment Weekly if that’s what you want. I prefer more music and less gossip please.
Really though, is it any surprise the MTV coverage of Live 8 was so terrible? It’s as if they said “Well, this MTV generation doesn’t want to sit through a bunch of onstage rock acts. Wouldn’t they get bored after a while?”
Reading how Rachel Perry was annoying! That was a laugh and a half. While I was living in Toronto, I remember her vapid, gangly ass, VJing on MuchMusic.
I’d like to know MTV’s ‘official’ statement (excuse) for putting on such a poor telecast.
Hey, loveanddeath, what do we need to be reminded of every once in a while by the lyrics of “One”?
That breaking up is hard to do?
are you really surprised at mtv and vh1′s shitty coverage? these channels are not about the music anymore. the younger generation no has no conception of what the channel once was. all they see now is punk’d, pimp my ride, and trl loserdom.
MTV performed as expected. C’mon it’s a commercial venture that is about as deep, well shit, we all know it’s not deep at all. So why did you even bother? Too bad the whole thing wasn’t made more convenient for the rest of us who actually like music to particpate and enjoy. West coast US’rs were sadly left out. By the way, PFloyd was cool, but my God! They should have turned off Water’s mic’. I like the way Gilmour was grinning when Water’s was trying to hit the notes. That little smirk to the drummer told me all was NOT well in the floyd camp.
Alan, you flap like my butt cheeks.
hah the channel that covered live 8 in australia, and whittled it down to two measly ad-dispersed hours with some retarded commentry from one of the most inane dickheads in television, have been pressured to reshow it this weekend, longer and with more acts that didn’t make the original coverage.
so, who said blog whining was a useless pasttime..?
hey doppler – i noticed that smirk too, and i think you’re right. i doubt there will ever be great relations between the four of them again. still, it was good to see Waters up there – and he seemed happiest of them all to be doing it, which i never expected.
i might even spend (inevitably too much) money to see them if they decided to swallow egos for a bit and tour, but i won’t hold my breath for that.
Hey Ammanda, how bout a private chat??????
Bono has still done more social and international good than any other singer/musician that I could name in the last twenty years. Raising awareness re: south africa, poverty and ills of nations that us Western Wasters don’t hear about because our media has its heads up its own arses, is a highly underrated occupation. Perhaps Your News Station made it known sufficiently that Rwanda was an embarrassment to every caucasian, but here in Canada they seemed to brush it off on some hidden corner on a back page of the daily rag.
Besides. As B.Dylan said “If you don’t want to see me , look the other way”. There are plenty of bands to ‘hate’, few to ‘love’.
I have around 75 live8 mp3s linked on my blog, http://www.mockingmusic.blogspot.com
- most are still active but they’re yousendit so they won’t be for long.
Did someone say U2 ripped off Snow Patrol? That’s like saying Paul McCartney ripped off Oasis.
Pink Floyd Live 8 / there whole set in MP3
http://www.4ner.net/stuff/Pink_Floyd_Live_8.wmv
this site has both video and mp3s of pink floyd at live 8.

Justin, I was referring more or less to this section of the song:
One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we’re not the same
We’ve got to
Carry each other
Carry each other
I don’t think it is at all taken out of context to apply this to the western worlds view of other countries and the issues they face.
Alan,
Are you referring to “Sometimes You Cant Make It On Your Own” sounding like “Run”? Because if so perhaps you need to listen to them both again. I do find that most U2 haters have not heard much of the new album, or maybe listened to ten seconds of any given song, before meticulously picking it apart.
Furthermore,
The Velvet Underground was for the most part enjoyable, but I have yet to find one Rolling stones song or VU track for that matter, that has the trademark ‘inpirational rock sound’ that U2 songs have.
Lastly, can we all agree to cut it out with the “OMFGZZZwho-does-Bono-think-he-is-in-those-SUNGLASSES?!?” shit already?!? They’re just sunglasses. Get the fuck over it already.
I’ve never been a fan of U2 but i have to say that i really admire Bono’s efforts and compassion.
He is a true ambassador for mankind and how anybody can rip into him is beyond me.
this site has the U2 live 8 mp3s and lots of other kool live u2 mp3s like the brooklyn bridge concert in great quality

It’s really hard too fine “Pink Floyd”-MP3′s for free d/l unless you join a music group.. is there any sugestions???
The person that made the comment about embarressing Australia by having Keith Urban on the show, should eat their words….
From all reviews that I have seen, He made a huge impression… more than anyone else that appeared on the Live 8 program…
I think you will be eating crow, within the next couple of months, when keith Urban is a superstar of madonna status!
The bloke is Aussie… and has worked real hard to acheive what he has… what about supporting him instead of bagging him!
He is Australia’s most successful male artist ever!..
beating all records set by ACDC INXS Savage garden
even air supply… NO OTHER MALE HAS DONE WHAT KEITH URBAN HAS….10 top 5 billboard hits consecute… 6 #1 billboard hits consecutive
More of the higest awards than you can imagine..
All being recognized by everywhere but Australia!
Just because he has the tag of country… BUT IF YOU LISTEN TO HIS MUSIC…. YOU WILL DISCOVER ITS PUB ROCK WITH A BANJO THROWN IN….
I think your standards must be paltry…because it seems the rest of the world admire and relish him!… I am appauled that you said he was embarassing to Australia
examples of the impression Keith made.
Rock Music Menu: Who rocked, who disappointed at Live 8
By ANTHONY J. SANFILIPPO,
Six days later, and I’m still trying to recover from Live 8. That’s right. The legs are still weary, the eyes are still glossy, the scalp is still sunburned (I should have worn a hat instead of a visor) and I’m still pretty perturbed that I spent 16 hours doing Live 8-related activities.
But enough about my complaining. It was a monumental concert event after all, and I should take solace that years later, when people talk about it, I can at least say I was part of it.
* Keith Urban – Will somebody please make this Aussie country star a little more famous? The guy can sing.

Philly’s Live 8: It wasn’t Live Great
Maroon 5 definitely left Philly with more fans than it came with and even did justice to Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World,” while Aussie Keith Urban let the listeners know that there is good music out there.

Keith Urban Countrifies Philly
Fellow Aussie Naomi Watts introduced Keith Urban for his set at Live-8 in Philadelphia, which kicked off around 5:35 p.m. ET. Urban performed “Days Go By,” “You’ll Think of Me,” a cover of Phil Collins’ “Another Day in Paradise” and “Somebody Like You,” where he demonstrated his guitar chops.

SNAPSHOT OF WHAT HAPPENED!

Politics Meets Rock, Rap at U.S. Leg of Live 8

Aussie country star Keith Urban wisely opened his set with the chorus “Philadelphia Freedom,” before launching into his hit “Days Go By.” After a cover of Phil Collins’ late-’80s hit “Another Day in Paradise” ? another reminder to the mostly young crowd that the day belonged to a serious cause ? Urban closed with a rocking, reverb-heavy version of “Somebody Like You.” For a town that isn’t known for a fondness of country music, Urban handily won the crowd over.

Live 8 rocks right from start
By ANDY VINEBERG
The Intelligencer
Among the late-afternoon acts, ’80s hair-band kings Def Leppard sounded surprisingly good. Sarah MacLachlan performed a beautiful duet with Josh Groban. Maroon 5 showed its rock chops with a stirring version of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” and Australian country star Keith Urban earned at least one new fan with an infectiously upbeat set. (Urban’s performance was far superior to Toby Keith’s among the day’s two country acts).
I can go on and on with great reviews!…
Now don’t you feel a git for your comment about Keith Urban?
Could be wrong but regarding the whole Macca debate about never having performed Sgt Pepper before, I think the point is that he has only ever performed the Sgt Pepper REPRISE live, that comes towards the end of the original album, whereas Live 8 opened with the main song which opens the Sgt Pepper Album.
