Since we’re getting antsy for Warp sounds, let’s take a listen to the new Broadcast 7″ (already OOP apparently).
Scott from OM says this is certainly not the best song of the album, but I’m digging it.
Broadcaster Trish Keenan explains the inspiration behind the song:
The lyrics to “America’s Boy” were generated by my reactions to a tabloid cryptic crossword. The clues were topically about the war in Iraq, and in general, their stance was one of anti-American occupation. In my frustration at not being able to decipher the clues, I began to react to them, make up my own answers, mimicking back the language of the clues. I was interested then in possible answers. I got on a roll arguing with the clues, asking questions back, taking offence to them and deliberately misreading them. What came back was a sort of celebration of the American soldier. Snap shots of the heroics of American Imperialism, the all out impressiveness of its big achievements. Also something that the British do not have in their culture, a self celebratory nature of Americans towards their own country.
Tender Buttonss drops 9/19.
Make sure to hit Scenestars for more sneak leakage.

mmmmmm, leakage
Having heard all of Tender Buttons, I have to say that I’m not impressed and I can’t figure out for the life of me why people like Broadcast
I’d spell it ‘antsy’.
I love this song the most out of all the other leaked songs I’ve downloaded. There are of plenty of people out there who love Broadcast’s sound but not everyone has the same taste. The “American soldier, America’s boy” part in the song keeps repeating in my head when I think about the song; it’s definitely intriguing. I’m going to do whatever I have to do to see them live in Atlanta although I have no idea what to expect since another band member has left…
Between this new Broadcast album and the new album from Colder, I am one happy person.
(Are you going to post any of the new Colder music on Stereogum for your audience to hear?)
It’s a good album. Very Broadcast. No surprises. No let downs. If you didn’t like Broadcast before this probably isn’t going to be the one to change your mind…unless perhaps a song gets played on “Laguna Beach” sometime soon.
At first this song was slime. Now it is the golden graham of amazement. I can’t stop listening to it. It has possessed me. Love the old keyboards. Love the fact it took 3 minutes to make. Broadcats needs to add one and add me. Or you. Let’s all be champs.
I have a couple of other tracks from the album on my site. Enjoy.
reminds me of treewave actually.

Treewave sucks. Nice attempt to try and self-promote your shit, assholes.
Americas Boy is a real beaut. I think the distorted synth is a little too loud but its a great song, hypnotic and catchy and hard to get out of my head.
