Tonight in Central Park:
Worst part: missing Stars entirely.
Best part: All star Fleetwood Mac jam.

The title of this post comes from Mr. Meloy’s stage banter. The Decemberists were thrilled to be playing in between Stars and DCFC. An indie rock sandwich if you will. Later Mr. Gibbard dedicated “Movie Script Ending” to Stars.

I wasn’t close enough to get decent pictures. Post links to yours in the conmments.

Dr. Dog: A Standout Among Stereotypes
Sometimes I wonder: Do the members of young indie-rock bands know that they're walking stereotypes? There's the scruffy dude who's obsessed with everything vintage and analog, the Pavement-worshiping, whiny-voiced lead singer, the rhythm section that knows ...

  5. this might sound cheesy but that was the best concert i saw all summer. to top it off the weather last night was about as close to perfect as possible. i hope to god someone recorded the indie-sandwich cover of “go your own way”. that was a riot.

  6. Decemberists were awesome. I get bored with DCFC on stage. They played well… but I have A.D.D. I need whales and mayhem. I caught most of Stars, but at 7:03 they announced their last song. With a curfew at 10:00, DCFC finished at precisely 9:59.

Smoosh was rocking out in the back on stage, eepecially to “Soul Meets Body.”

Stars were good, but then again, stars is always good. Their set felt rushed though. Started early and only played for 20 mins or so.
The Decemberists were awesome. I had never seen them before.
DeathCab was amazing. It just all seemed to be over so quickly. Played “Soul Meets Body”, “Crooked Teeth” and “Someday You Will Be Loved” off the new album. To be honest, the songs dodn’t sound so deathcab-y on the cd, but listening to them live, it sounded really good and made me want to go listen to the album again.
    Encore knocked my socks off.

  8. Not gonna lie, I screamed like I was getting eaten by a whale.
