I’ve listened to it a few more times since your last post and I’m still lost somewhere in the middle.
I’m kind of inclined to just not care.
(though I’ll admit to liking the opening track)

Jesus Christ, where is all the hate coming from? I think it’s pretty good. I’m not sure anything will approach “We Have The Facts…” but this is certainly better than, say, X&Y. Imagine if Coldplay were this interesting?

There was no way anyone who knew who they were before this album was going to admit to liking it now that they’re on a major label. It’s just not how it works. It’s not like it’s Sgt. Pepper, but it’s still a great album.
I wrote in a review of it that I liked it because Gibbard’s lyrics still sound like they’re pulled from his diary. That’s gutsy even though it’s not revolutionary. Can’t expect much more than that from them.
I like what I’ve heard so far. It’s ignited an interest in the band that I haven’t had for years. Nothing revolutionary but well done…can’t expect much more from a band these days.
I still don’t care…does that make me a bad person?

Death Cab is my favorite band, and always will be.
However, though I was so excited for this album, and got it the second it came out, I still find myself wanting to listen to the old stuff, like Blacking Out the Friction, and Tiny Vessles. I guess I just appreciated it more when it wasn’t on a major label. I know it doesn’t really make a difference, because Ben is still writing amazing, and mesmorizing lyrics, but it’s just better when bands are low key. Meh…I dunno.

DCFC Currently = No good.
I wouldn’t say the new album is terrible but my old dcfc albums will definitely stay out instead.
I should just see how many days it takes for me to see them on TRL with teenage girls hyperventilating over them.
omg…..if you truly like a fan you won’t care if its on a major label or not…you shouldn’t be so concerned about the society around you…everytime a new cd comes out from a band you love it should be a day to celebrate…because apparently they were generous enough to let us hear what they have to say
Being on a major label means nothing if the band is a good one…because regardless they will continue to release good music…for jeebuses sake…let them grow!
