It’s hard for us fans to get excited about new tunes from a songwriter who shits out EPs and double ablums like he’s on his deathbed. That said, I like what I hear on Jacksonville. Even (perhaps especially) the Norah Jones duet. My Yellow Country Teeth has MP3s. Enjoy.

I really dig the new album. #2 “The End” & #3 “Hard Way to Fall” are really great tunes and do a great job setting the feel of the album. I don’t which of the two from this year I prefer…

Ok this is one depressing cd. Lyrically and emotionally it’s phenomenal. But I don’t know how I feel about it musically. I know it will grow on me but I was kind of bored with it.
“Jacksonville” and “Dear John” are my faves for now.
Rolling Stone have given the album three and a half stars – if that’s worth anything.
I dig the stuff I’ve heard so far. It has been kept rather quiet though. Not a ton of promotional stuff for this album. Must be the new game plan for Ryan Adams. Seemed to work for Cold Roses.

I liked when the Love is Hell EPs became hits (due to the Wonderwall cover’s prominence) despite his label refusing to release them and then dumping them as two separate EPs. That must have made for some happy conversations.

Ryan’s best since Heartbreaker for sure. The Hardest Part and Don’t Fail Me Now are the true jems of the album but as a whole it is a fantastic record. By the wat did anyone see the complimentary DVD that accompanies the album?
Its better than Springsteens *Nebraska*. It will stand the test of time, that there Jacksonville City thingie. Its so honest you dont even have to relate, just be glad the album was made.
most of the songs on this album are genius – melodic, lyrical, haunting – totally grew on me, especially “Pa”, “The Hardest Part”, “Withering Heights”, “Don’t Fail me Now” and “September”. Cold Roses knocked me out immediately, it was so blatantly good. This one creeps up on you. The guy who wrote the review of this album for Pitchfork is a typical music press tool, the kind who has to review so many albums he never gets a chance to actually LISTEN to them several times, as one must. Don’t trust the typical press reviews of this album, people who write for Rolling Stone and Pitchfork etc. are wordy chin-stroking geeks who listen to an album once and then pan it to sound cool to their editors. This is yet another great album, from a songwriter-singer who, contrary to his own humble opinion, is at LEAST as good as his influences, including Dylan and Parsons and whomever else. As for Ryan just redoing Gram Parsons with Heartbreaker and other such drivel from the Pitchfork reviewer guy, you’re an unmusical moron on glue. And JCN is as good as Heartbreaker, in its own way. Just listen to it.
