Wow, I was totally feeling the urge to say “first post” here, and then I checked out the previous article (well, post, but then I’m using that term here in contradictory ways) and noticed that someone had done exactly that. Is Stereogum fated to become the Slashdot of music?

Anyways, topically, The Fugees . . . they’ve fallen quite a bit over time now, are they even worth mentioning anymore?

  2. sigh…
why is it that stereogum, pitchfork et al are slowly but surely turning into “THE MAN.” it’s like all of the ‘cool’ kids are evolving into their ignorant grandparents or something.

OK, it’s been a zillion years since the fugees were around/relevent – whatever. the new track is blazing and lauryn hill in particular sounds fully reenergized. but instead, we keep a cheap crack about how they ripped off the effing delfonics.

    and with that, good day!

    first post, bitches? who cares.

fugees were good because they would sing there hooks…

this track just feels like one long, boring verse

You’re right, half-heartedly putting down an overrated group 8 years after they’ve peaked IS “turning into THE MAN.” those damn cool kids are at it again!

  7. is it true that they still hate each other?

  8. oh, so Ms. Hill has finally overcome all the downfalls of being a celebrity to record a new album? i’m sure it has nothing to do with her dwindling bank account and equally dwindling relevance.

the government invented crack (and rigged the levees)to kill black people and pot to make the fugees suck.

mona lisa (remix) is still far and away their best song, it appears that it will remain that way forever-ever-fovever-ever, everorever-ever-fovever-ever, everorever-ever-fovever-ever, everorever-ever-fovever-ever, everorever-ever-fovever-ever, ever.

  10. This song is horrible.

half hearted song. shoulda just stayed broken up.

  12. As long as it’s not Lauryn hoarsely hoofing her way through never-ending socially paranoid paeans to the New Jeruz, I’m a happy camper. This is not, however, anywhere near comparable to Fu-Gee-La, the holy grail of Fugee-dom.

I have not been able to hear the Fugees new song yet, can someone tell me where i can hear it?

the score is great, blunted on reality is ok, and the Fugees new single is horrible. It is not even close to enjoyable. wtf were they thinking?

  15. All u ‘critics’ should give the fugees a break! lets not forget they are the musical geniuses who fused hip hop, soul, reggae and rnb to create the highest selling album of all time! ok, fair enough wycleff and pras dont do to well in ‘take it easy’ but lauryn kicks ass! she’ll always be the ultimate hip hop diva, whether or not she is raspily singing self-paraniod songs about deception etc… y’all just wait till her next solo album! i bet all you ‘critics’ and negative asses will go out and buy a copy straight away and profess to be her biggest fan!!! just remember youll always be fake…
