The world-beating radio gods at WFMU have put up 31 tracks from Van Morrison’s legendarily spiteful, contractually obligated Bang sessions. These tracks have apparently shown up on various small releases and compilations through the years, even on “best of” albums, doubtless to Van Morrison’s chagrin.
The first couple tracks have an obvious theme- “Twist and Shake,” “Shake and Roll,” “Stomp and Scream,” “Scream and Holler,” “Jump and Thump” but eventually he’s just turning out stuff like “Nose in Your Blow” and “Want A Danish.” To get any (or all) of those MP3s, check out WFMU’s entry.

Much better, but can we get back to the more important topic of Kate Moss’ drug use?
The new Harvey Danger cd is up at harveydanger.com for free download. I thought you might all want to check it out. It sounds very good so far.

“Want A Danish” is my new favourite song ever.
Thanks for the link.
seriously what’s up cutter? you sit around waiting to first post something nasty on every thread?
Awesome. I didn’t really like Van the Man until now…
I love this site, but it seems to be drifting towards mediocrity. There’s already enough blogs covering that crap. Can you tell me how Lindsay Lohan is even relevent here?
So more Lohan? More Ashlee Simpson? I’ll see what I can do.
I think “Here Comes Dumb George” is going on my next mix…it’s just that good.
I’m going to be singing that for the rest of the night, “here comes dumb george, here comes dumb george..”
how about posting about Karl Malden, he’s got a big nose
Van Morrison sucks. Let’s hear some more aboutthe ironic music of Grizzly Bear or the Boards of Canada.
Cutter, seriously, get the fuck out.
And Scott, definitely give the new Harvey Danger a listen… it’s got that good ‘ol pop indie rock going on. I managed to catch them live in Seattle at a Katrina benefit with Death Cab and they played a good show. They even dedicated the second song, “Cream and Bastards Rise”, to Kanye West.
i’ve loved those van morrison songs for a while now. they prompted me to listen to “astral weeks” but after hearing the improvised songs, i hated it. it sounded like the same songs but longer and serious (hence less enjoyable). “ringworm” is my all-time favorite. but “want a danish”…so so good.
totalitarian mat
Hey everybody, any word on that new Harvey Danger joint? I’m a HUGE FAN!
Why would anybody want to listen to yet another bunch of Emerald City one-hit-wonders attempting a comeback when they can listen to “Ringworm” over and over and over?
Pointless douchebaggery.
The fact that his guitar keeps getting further out of tune is awesome. I just imagine him crapping these out, one after the other, in one long 40 minute take.
These are the best songs I have ever heard. Pet Sounds, Sgt. Pepper lame amature crap compared to this collection!
William Styron, whose Holocaust novel Sophie’s Choice became a film and an opera, has died, aged 81…
