Depeche Mode’s new album may be “stadium songs, clarion calls to their fans” (Rolling Stone) but that didn’t stop the band from rocking a rare club gig Friday night. Reports are trickling in today. Mozlibrarian caught Dave Gahan arriving at the venue and Brooklyn Vegan was at the performance with his camera.

Play some Playing The Angel at MySpace. “Precious” is really growing on me.

scott – forgive, i’m an idiot. brooklyn vegan got their ticket. eff you, brooklyn vegan!

  6. Precious is a great fucking song. Especially hits home if you’re married with children. Martin wrote it for his kids in the middle of this divorce. The lyrics are just fucking brilliant.

I wish I’d have gotten to the show. I also wish they were playing Philly.

I was there. Even though it was a small club they rocked it like the Rose Bowl. Only wierd thing was that the stage was so small that Dave was like a caged rat….pent up energy with nowhere to go. That and the WALL of 6 iMac taking up the entire left side of the Bowery floor (they had too much stuff for the regular soundbooth so they had to make thier own).

“still so danged hot”? To me it looks like he’s slowly morphing into Joe Pesci.
