Golden Globes. Doesn’t really have anything to do with music (unless you’re a Brokeback Mountain Soundtrack fan), but this has me scratching my head:

Picture, Musical or Comedy:
WINNER: Walk the Line

Actress, Musical or Comedy:
WINNER: Reese Witherspoon, Walk the Line

Actor, Musical or Comedy:
WINNER: Joaquin Phoenix, Walk the Line

Great performances, great drama. But Musical or Comedy?

Anyway, I guess my main question is: when did they add a 6th desperate housewife?

Yeah, that one put me off a little. What got the drama thing, Brokeback Mountain?

Yeah, Brokeback Mountain won for Best Drama, and if Walk the Line was nominated against it, I’m sure it would have lost.

Yeah, that new desperate housewife is really sexy. ;)

I’m still waiting for a wide release for Brokeback Mountain. Not because I’m particularly excited to see it. Just because my friends and I want to see it dressed as cowboys.

Or it could be an awkward date film (I took a girl to Kinsey).

Am I the only person here who doesn’t get what’s so attractive about Eva Langoria.

Walk the Line was my favorite Reese Witherspoon movie since Election.

  6. Argh…so frustrated with their categorization…why was Desp Housebitches in with Comedy? Yeah there is humor, but c’mon…lame.

  7. yes, daryl, you are the only one.

it’s that incredibly hot and sweet little latino ass.

  8. I love how it looks like Teri Hatcher is trying to snatch her producer’s GG in that photo. Yo, Teri, get your own!

  9. Brokeback Mountain is the best example of how to stretch 30 minutes of story into over two hours of agony.
Ugh. Performances (specifically Heath Ledgers) were incredible but how did this thing win?

  10. The ‘Musical or Comedy’ category often has this problem. Last year Jamie Foxx won best actor in the category for the drama ‘Ray,’ and a few years back Jim Carrey won for his portrayal of Andy Kauffman in the drama ‘Man on the Moon.’

I think movie studios are happy to submit these as musicals knowing that they can mop up the category… picking up any momentum they can for both the Oscars and for box-office/dvd sales.

Same goes with the ‘Supporting Actress’ category. Rachel Weisz clearly has the lead female role in ‘The Constant Gardener’ but they put her in the supporting role as she has a better chance of winning (and did win.) The argument goes that Ralph Fiennes is the lead therefore, she’s a supporting actress. Reese Witherspoon’s role in ‘Walk the Line’ could have the same argument, but since the chances of winning ‘Lead Actress’ were much greater in her category (Musical or comedy – again, mis-categorized for advantage) she stays as the lead.

There’s a lot of people out there who think that Eva looks like a rat or a hamster. They don’t get why this horny/sleeping around midget is so overrated and overexposed. Don’t forget that pictures and TV make people look taller than they really are. So I’m sure that she’s not that impressive in real-life.

Eva the Diva is (more and more) making herself known as a trash-talking bitchy woman.
