Leaking, leaking, leaked.

  • Sufjan Stevens – “Opie’s Funeral Song” (MP3 Link Expired)
From Mews Too: An Asthmatic Kitty Compilation
  • Morrissey – “I Will See You In Far Off Places” (MP3 Link Expired)
     From Ringleader Of The Tormentors
  • Built To Spill – “Traces” (MP3 Link Expired)
     From You In Reverse

CAVEAT PIRATE: (1) Sufjan’s track is “previously unreleased” not recorded post-Illinois. (2) We’ll probably get a C&D from Moz’s peeps, although that cut’s on over a dozen blogs already. Done, and done! (3) “Traces” is a demo.

We’d still like to know what you think. Viva Hate or Melodies Of The Future? Sound off in the comments.

Definitely liking the Built to Spill stuff I’ve been hearing off this album. Only complaint might be that the songs are a bit unnecessarily lengthy (as opposed to Perfect From Now On, where the songs needed to be that long). That said, it’s miles beyond Ancient Melodies.

love this new sufjan track, despite is sounding exactly like all his other songs

    3. grrr!! that jerky sample on the built to spill album i SO annoying. what a pain. does a clean rip exist yet? because it sounded great otherwise.

That Built to Spill track probably shouldn’t be posted. That version with the overdub comes from a “rough mix” which leaked for a day or so on the BtS forum. It was immediately taken down, and apparently made band members angry. Just a heads up.

    5. Just for clarification, Opie’s Funeral Song is a very very old Sufjan song that he’s finally been coaxed into recording. Earlier versions of it can be found here and there, most notably on a radio show he did with Half-handed Cloud on WBAR.

    6. Also,

We were one of the firsts to leak the Morrissey track, only to receive two cease and desist emails from Sanctuary Records within an hour.

Was that a little Mike Jones sample at the end of the Built to Spill track? Thats funny. Great track. I won’t even bother with the Sujckin Stevens track, it probably sucks

And here I was hoping for a Built to Spill/Mike Jones mashup.

    9. karl  |   Posted on Feb 3rd, 2006 0

Damn, I thought the Mike Jones thing was only at the end and on purpose. I feel dumb now. I just got the whole album and it goes on throughout the WHOLE thing! Thats really weird.

Besides the sample throughout, it sounds great! Best I’ve heard from them in awhile:)

    11. BTS MP3 has been replaced a clean (no Mike Jones) version.

Sufjan is as ethereal as ever. I don’t think I will ever get sick of him.

I really like that new Moz track, especially the “If the USA doesn’t bomb you” bit….the end of the track where he goes all moroccan on your ass is great too….

well, when i read above i thought, maybe it’s “American is not the world” but the track is really good, for moz fans,

    16. I loved the Mozzer back in high school, but to me that was about a lifetime ago (actually, almost four years). Still, it’s nice to hear what the bloke is cooking up nowadays. I’ve heard worse from the man.

I love Sufjan but….why does this track remind me of John Mayer?
