Can I enter to win everything up to “One Hot Minute” only?

  2. billyjean  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

Can I just enter to win Blood Sugar Sex Magic- my copy is scratched. The downloaded versions of the rest of their catalog will suffice.

Did you guys run this by Flea first??

  3. Karl  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

Funny, I was going to ask if I could enter to win everything but One Hot Minute.

  4. Alex  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

I’m going to win everything and stick it under a bridge, where no one will find it except maybe a shirtless muscular guy running at full speed for no reason.

  5. billyjean  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

I think he was running from success, towards mediocrity.

  6. I entered! Worth a shot. Anything free is rad!

  7. Can you throw in one of their used crotch-socks? You know… just for the completists?

  8. This would be awesome stuff to trade in at Criminal Records. Maybe I could get that GBV box set I’ve had my eye on. Yay!

  9. i’ll just assume you will be posting the mp3′s of we are scientists from radio one this morning. I wanted to thank you in advance. quite the interesting interpretations.

  10. damn, you people are pricks. why all the hate?

  11. Matthew  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

i’d like to win because, unlike all the other comments here so far, i’d actually like to own their entire collection and would not be leaving it under bridges or trading it in at my local record shop.

  12. Is it really hate? I’m thinking more like disinterest.

Flea was really awesome in The Big Lebowski though.

  13. GoCatGo  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

I’m not a big fan (I think the only RHCP I own is a 12-inch single of “Hollywood”), but It’s sad that Flea has been revealed to be a whiner. I thought he was cooler than that… and a little less desperate.

    Oh well.

  14. frankie  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

what i’d also like were those half a dozen albums john frusiante put out all at once a couple years back.

  15. Josh  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

Does this come with the shark that RHCP jumped around 1993?

  16. jack  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

Its not hate as much as people ganging up on a whiney flea, who (I assume) most of us pegged to be a badass. It’s like we’re in middle school and he put all his lame-ass emotions in a note and posted it to his locker.

    Rugrats Go Wild!!!

  17. jed2  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

Freaky Styley is a great album. Some of the best drums sounds ever recorded.

  18. juju  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

i love stereogum, but what a shitty contest.

  19. janine  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

…and Jack comes in with the perfect analogy. Really, kudos. Scott, when the contest is over, is ther any way you can tell us the number of entries? That’s going to be an interesting statistic. I wonder if people might enter merely because the odds look good and everyone likes winning.

  20. richard  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

use of the phrase “jump the shark” jumped the shark about 2 years ago.

  21. You’re a towel!

  22. marc  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

    no….you’re a towel

  23. Curtis  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

    wow…i hope i win.

i’ve always been a closet RHCP fan.

  24. jimm  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

wow….is that really the title of the album? Stadium Arcadium? wtf…

  25. haris pilton  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

ok i will enter the competition, but only if you can assure me that it will not break flea’s heart, it will not break john frusciante’s heart, it will not break anthony kiedis’s heart and it will not break the heart of chad smith. deal?

  26. Axl Foley  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

fuck relevance, and one hot minute, and flea’s internet ramblings, and fuck hatred for stereogum contests, (i better win that stupid red thing that makes noises) fuck people who hate john frusciante and chad smith, fuck people who still say “jump the shark”, fuck making fun of under the bridge, cause you know you were singing it…fuck it all and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CAN I WIN A GOD DAMN STEREOGUM CONTEST, JUST ONCE!!!

    Foley will triumph.

  27. Evan  |   Posted on May 4th, 2006

    What Hits is a DVD?

  28. changa  |   Posted on May 5th, 2006

the only thing that makes me sad is the photoshop stars on the graphic. :(

  29. martin  |   Posted on May 5th, 2006

“wow….is that really the title of the album? Stadium Arcadium? wtf…”

yeah, but have you seen the cover art for it??

  30. dsven  |   Posted on May 5th, 2006

Most of you posters are a bunch of petty, sarcastic pricks. Why is it so bad that artists actually want control of how their music is released, and heaven forbid, actually make some money off their work??

The Chili Peppers may not be the most “cutting-edge” band anymore, but there are far inferior bands out there…they’ve obviously lasted for a reason.

I see it now…in 2018, Sufjan will either be long-forgotten, or still releasing albums, in which case younger hipsters will be making the exact same snarky comments as those being directed at the Chilis and Pearl Jam…trying to please you “cutting-edge” little shits is a no-win situation for artists.

  31. haris pilton  |   Posted on May 5th, 2006

    “the chilis”? lol

no but seriously, john frusciante should make another series of solo albums instead of wasting his time with “the chilis”…

  32. dsven  |   Posted on May 5th, 2006

Bravo sir, thank you for pointing out my incorrect use of the Red Hot Chili Peppers name. I beg your pardon. Nitpicking little prick.

  33. haris pilton  |   Posted on May 5th, 2006

    the pleasure was all mine…

  34. Frank  |   Posted on May 5th, 2006

You can stream the new RHCP album at vh1.com already:

SHH! Flea would be pissed if he found out!

  35. haris pilton  |   Posted on May 5th, 2006

look if flea would have come out and admit he was bummed because he was missing out on some sweet $… but the “sound”? the “sound”? c’mon… think about the children in africa dude… won’t somebody think about the children in africa.

  36. dsven  |   Posted on May 5th, 2006

If you take away the sound, what do we have left? Nothing but artwork.

  37. haris pilton  |   Posted on May 5th, 2006

how about a 40 years old guy with a sock over his ding dong

  38. ldld  |   Posted on May 5th, 2006

where are all the cool kids?? Oh I know, they are at their local record store looking for “wire” cd’s.

  39. +robyn  |   Posted on May 5th, 2006

if i win i am going to post their music on every file sharing network i can find.

  40. Robert  |   Posted on May 5th, 2006

Is it wrong of me to have downloaded Stadium Arcadium in spite of Flea?

  41. crystal  |   Posted on May 6th, 2006

Is the rant that bad? I can’t be bothered to read artists’ rants on downloading as it only increases music purchasing. I’ll buy an album if its good enough is what they’re upset about. People can actually find out if something’s a piece of crap ahead of time. But from what I’ve heard, I’ll buy their album…eventually. But getting it for free would be even better.

  42. jimm  |   Posted on May 6th, 2006

“yeah, but have you seen the cover art for it??”

actually just caught the artwork in the newspaper today…..wow they just took the title fonts and from no doubt’s “return of saturn” brought it to the center of the same exact outer-space background image and cropped out gwen & co. in the bedroom

  43. will it break their collective hearts if I neither download nor purchase the record?
I had planned on picking this cd up just because I figured that it’d have a few tunes that an old school Peppers fan might enjoy, but after heaing the single and the title track I’m going to have to take a pass.
and to top it off, john frusiante hates the poo poodles!

  44. i love spam ^^^^
