Kids, I wrote that. The intention wasn’t to punk the blogosphere — what hacker correctly uses ‘whom’ and posts a Bob Dylan MP3? — but to amuse you while we were pwned. I see how it would appear a hacker wrote it. Sorry for the confusion. (Well, not that sorry. Gawker love‘s hard to find if you’re not Crazy ‘Us Weekly’ Guy™.)
The truth is our server was “compromised.” Whatever the fuck that means. That’s what our hosting company said. Almost certainly the work of a bot leeching on our RAM. Or the person sending nasty missives from Firecrotch’s CrackBerry. Or someone who hates indie rock a cappella. Huge thanks to StereoJim for getting us back up. Thank him if you see him. He lives in Brooklyn.

Lovely that you’re back…not having my daily ‘Gum intake was killing me. Seriously, my liver was going through withdrawls.
Glad the site’s back to normal…and infinite thanks for the new track. The beginning reminded me of “Steady As She Goes” quite a lot but that burning fear was cooled as I listened to the rest of the song…lovely.
If I knew how to hack, I would use “whom” correctly.
However, I am far too consumed with grammatical correctness to bother trying to learn to hack.
Lots of hacking this past week, though. Another site I visit occasionally was hacked by some “Belgian sniper.”

Tyrome, I guess you’re right. Even when those sites are big customers whose servers are compromised and they’re involved in bringing it back to life. Why check the site? I’m sorry I ever doubted you. I hope I haven’t distracted you from whatever masterpiece you were working on.
Jim dude, they dont just go randomly around looking at the main index html files of all their clients. If there was something wrong with your site, they have a million other ways to tell, not by just looking at your html page.
And why would your hosting company “freak out”? YOU’RE the one losing service, they’re there to help when it happens, not to ‘freak out’ even more than their customer. Jeez.
