Like we said on first blush at their Bowery gig a few months ago, “Don’t Feel Like Dancing” — from the Sisters’ forthcoming sophomore effort Ta Dah — is a seriously infectious Brothers Gibb workout. But having this track in the cozy confines of our iPod has revealed Jake Shears going for bonus gay points with that George Michael-mining bridge. And bringing on Sir Elton for the cut sure won’t hurt his Chelsea street cred.

Scissor Sistors – “Don’t Feel Like Dancin’” (MP3 Link Expired)

Disco will never die! At least, not as long as Baby Daddy has anything to say about it. Look for Ta Dah in your local CD stores on 9/26.

    you can’t say “george michael-mining.”

this song is super, thanks for asking.

  3. Ugh, can’t stand Scissor Sisters. Dunno what it is, maybe the suspenders, maybe the high pitched male vocals, but I just don’t like their music.

Like I said on PSNYC, this sounds a bit too much like Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons for my liking. Specifically “December 1963 (Oh What A Night)”.

    Disco sucks.

  5. Love it. Saw them playing this live and the studio version doesn’t disappoint me at all

  6. you may have said it on PSNYC, but no one read it until you posted it here.

song’s awesome, though could be a little more gay for my money.

  7. sounds like a 70′s tv show theme song!

  8. Fab-u-luss!

Brothers Gibb? 70s TV show theme? Makes me think of…

    talkin’ ’bout crazy cool medallions.

  10. This song was dance-tastic at Siren. Definitely still dance-tastic now.

Of course now all I can think about is the singer in those little black briefs…..

  11. Love it! Love it! Love it!

I’ve played it something like 19 times in a row.

I saw them live last night in Sydney and loved this song as soon as they started playing it. I think the new material sounds very promising, can’t wait for Ta-Dah!

  15. Late September ’63, what a speical time for me and the Scissor Sisters. I totally agree with tim that this song could be a bit more gay. Are they trying to tone down their act or something?!

  16. Wendy  |   Posted on Jul 28th, 2006

I LOVE IT! And, I love the Scissor Sisters. They’re so much fun. And to just say they’re “disco” is not giving them enough credit. They’re as disco as Sir Elton and Bowie with a dash of the B-52s.

Hope more Americans get to know them . . .

This is an amazingly infectious song! Their new stuff certainly doesn’t disappoint. They truly offer an incredible performance.

    Thanks for passing it along.

Heard this song for the first time live at Splendour in the Grass and loved it. Babydaddy played banjo and it just gave it some, for want of a better word ‘oomph’. The studio version is quite disappointing in comparison.

    This song is AWESOME!
All you haters just go put on some Kelly Clarkson or Nick Lachey and stop posting mean comments. I got to meet Scissor Sisters and they are the nicest people you would ever want to meet.

    It’s retro, it’s 70′s, and it’s beautiful!
    Can’t wait for the album!

  20. fab-u-luss i love it, its so gay and right up my street hehe

    Hey!

Can’t even begin to say how much this song has cheered up my day. Disco is alive and well. America, you need to wake up to these guys, you are seriously missin out. Saw them live in Glasgow last year and I am in love with Jake and Paddy-Boom.

infectious to say the least.. ‘let-your-love-flow’ intro and 70′s eltonesque posturing.. george michael cd never manage this much fun

Just like to say that the intro of the Scissor Sisters, Dont feel like dancing sounds more like Doobie Bros, listen to the music than december 63

Not content with getting away with their lazy ‘Bee Gee’ and ‘Prince’ style falsetto ‘singing’, the Scissor Sisters become guilty of copying the backing music from the classic 60′s Doobie Brothers song, ‘Listen To the Music’! Just compare both intros and tell the difference. In my opinion, these brothers could have received loyalties for this rip-off!

We love it here in Dallas…DJ’s play it in all the gay clubs and we cue it up on all the jukeboxes in the gay bars. Yes, it’s waay gay, so what. The fact that it does make you want to dance in spite of the ironic lyric is hilarious. Love this group.
