Former Sex Beatles Noel and Liam Gallagher release a hits comp titled Stop The Clocks in November. After DAYS of speculation, Oasis’ belligerent brothers fill us in on the tracklist:

01. “Some Might Say”
02. “Don’t Look Back In Anger”
03. “D’You Know What I Mean?”
04. “All Around The World”
05. “Go Let It Out”
06. “The Hindu Times”
07. “Lyla”
08. “The Importance Of Being Idle”
09. “Masterplan”
10. “Half The World Away”
11. “Acquiesce”
12. “Champagne Supernova”
13. “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star”
14. “Supersonic”
15. “Wonderwall”
16. “Whatever”
17. “Boy With The Blues” [New Song]
18. “Stop The Clocks” [New Song]

Noel says of the title track, ?I think it?s the best song I?ve ever written. … I?ve got so bored waiting for The La’s to come back that it sounds like how I?d want them to if they did return.?

That’s lovely Noel. But how the fuck did you leave off “Live Forever”?

still the coolest band on earth. get yer game up kids.

  2. Wow, that’s a new low in bad greatest hits tracklistings! There really has to be someone at the label who has to tell Noel “um, the idea of a hits cd is to put the hits on it, and ‘Live Forever’ is one of your three most famous tunes.” Or should I say choons?

?All I ever wanted to do was make a record. Here’s what you do: you pick up your guitar, you rip a few people’s tunes off, you swap them round a bit, get your brother in the band, punch his head in every now and again, and it sells. I’m a lucky bastard. I’m probably the single most lucky man in the world — apart from our Liam.?

  5. i hate oasis. i don’t understand what could possibly be construed as “cool” about them. i saw them on some HD channel on my TV and they sucked so badly i wanted to kick my grandma

  6. TheKrisheim  |   Posted on Aug 1st, 2006

holy crap! you have HD TV and a blog!?!?! wow, so cool!

  7. Little Fooking James  |   Posted on Aug 1st, 2006

oh yeah man they suck live “rolls eyes”. we are talking about the definitive live act of the past 10 years. the band that has an influence on every act that has come out of the uk since 1994, and possibily the last rock n roll band that actually matters. name one band, just one post Oasis that has affected both the pop and musical landscpae you can’t.

oh and by the way that tracklisting isn’t real it’s from the british tabloid/rag the sun. but in the slight chance it is us real Stop The Clocks will be the best song released this year by miles.

i’m anxious to hear the new song. but i agree. no “live forever”? that’s the song that made me become an oasis fan, and i’m sure that can be said for a lot of other people. it’s probably in my top 25 favorite song list. i’m really surprised it’s not on there. :/

  9. crittick  |   Posted on Aug 1st, 2006

Fletch, I enjoyed that sh*t so much, I DID kick yer grandma! Sorry, mate!

  10. fook  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

yeah, pretty much every song on there is fantastic, but leaving “live forever” off a best-of comp is PRETTY PERVERSE, gallaghers … will liam be smashing a watermelon on the CD cover??

    rock, love these fellows

  12. collin  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

manic street preachers and blur and stone roses are 1000 times more interesting than anything oasis has ever done.

  13. Little Fooking James  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

    interesting doesn’t equal better.

  14. mattshu  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

    gotta love ‘em.

  15. Um….they’re not THAT good. Definitive live act? I beg to differ. But we all have our own opinions…

I’m not going to buy it, but it’s definitely great that they’re finally releasing this.

  16. Alex  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

what? all you guys like oasis. shit. y’all are turds.

  17. Hank Mohaski  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

One of the worst shows I’ve ever been dragged to by a girlfriend.

I will say this about Oasis – they’re more derivative than most.

  18. adam  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

“We are talking about the definitive live act of the past 10 years.”

    IN ENGLAND!

P.S. What does does that sentence mean? If I look up “Live Act” in the dictionary I should see a line of cocaine and one brother missing?

  19. melissa  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

oasis rocks. period. saw them live in l.a. and they rocked my socks off.

  20. I Keep Mine Hidden  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

I can’t believe that the undeniably rocking Oasis haver released a best of without either Live Forever or, more pretinently, Cigarettes and Alcohol.

Therefore I will refuse to believe this.

  21. well, the source isn’t too credible if you think about it–”live forever” just might be in it once the band releases an official statement.

nevertheless, Noel has said time and again that Stop The Clocks won’t be their “greatest hits”. Why release it, then? Beats me. I’m not from the record company.

  22. live forever or no, oasis should stop releasing albums. the last one was abominable, despite all the critics saying it was a massive return to form. what form?!

  23. oasis have sucked lately, but i’ll always lurve em

  24. Evan  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

I’m tired of the Oasis debate. No matter what they release the public will always fall into two camps: those that praise them far too much and those that hate on them far too much. Whatever. For me it ends after the first two albums, with a few exceptions. (“Don’t Go Away and “Laila” among them)

The coolest thing about that article was the La’s reference. How can no one mention the La’s in these comments? Their album is amazing, and not only because of “There She Goes.” The catchiest, best-written guitar pop this side of the Beatles, and the band themselves hated it! Talk about being your own toughest critic. Everyone needs to get over Oasis and listen to the La’s. The Gallagher brothers have said they formed Oasis to finish off what the La’s have started, you Oasis nuts. So if that doesn’t get your attention I don’t know what will.

  25. Chris  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

Don’t really see the point of this record. I suppose it’s kinda a Greatest Hits, but without Live Forever (probably the only Oasis song that really matters) that tag seems ridiculous. All the other usual suspects are there though.

I gotta think this is something to fulfill some kind of contractual obligation. Still loadsa good times on that record though – makes me wanna play Some Might Say really really loud.

  26. Hmm.  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

Oasis already did a greatest hits album. Definitely Maybe.

  27. crittick  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

Actually, I think Noel released the latest Shack album on his label in order to finish what The La’s started.

Actually that track listing is not final. It will be announced in September. So I would imagine that Live Forever will turn up just yet?

Oasis suck live? There is nothing better than the delusional folks who are constantly waiting for the next big gig at the knitting factory to watch 2 knob heads bang spoons together in the name of art?.Indy rock – bless.

“Stop the Clocks” as the best song he’s ever written? Didn’t he say the same thing about “Don’t Look Back in Anger”?

  31. Little Fooking James  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

we need more oasis news daily stereogum.

  32. Evan  |   Posted on Aug 2nd, 2006

Little James, you need to get a grip. I didn’t know that it was a prerequisite to be more of an asshole than either of the Gallagher brothers if you’re a huge Oasis fan. So I misspelt one of their songs. I wasn’t sure about the spelling and I didn’t know someone would jump down my throat like you did.

Basically, your opinion is just as implausible as mine if not more so, because you think that they are he only band that mattered after 1994. That is so wrong in so many ways I can’t even begin to tell you. And to give you a taste of your own medicine:

“the pop and musical landscpae you can’t.”

    IT’S LANDSCAPE ASSHOLE!
fuck you and get off of the Gallagher brothers dicks!

Noel was right about “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” I’ve always wondered when Oasis was gonna put out a Greatest Hits (because I think about these things). It’s really startling when you look at that list to see how many truly great songs they have written, whether or not “Live Forever” is amongst them.

I’m definitely buying this, but if I hear “All Around the World” in that AT&T commercial one more time I’m gonna stab myself in the face with a hot poker. At least on the local TV stations here they literally sometimes air it twice in a row, just two jar it into our heads that “SBC is the new AT&T” and that Liam has a really annoying voice. Who else thinks someone needs to do a mashup of that song and Taylor Hicks in the Ford commercial and call it “Annoying Commercial Jingle Remix”?

you can call me whatever you like. just dont call me aerosmith.

  38. Dirtysweet  |   Posted on Aug 3rd, 2006

Sorry mate, but The La’s’ are way overrated. The album’s just alright, the amicable guitar pop you’d expect to come from Liverpool.
It’s the myth of Lee Mavers fucking it up, losing it and hating his own music what makes this band interesting to snobs.

  39. Bender  |   Posted on Aug 3rd, 2006

I could live without Live Forever maybe, but no Morning Glory and Don’t Go Away? That track list has got to be rubbish. Masterplan and Acquiesce instead — guh.

  40. kevin  |   Posted on Aug 8th, 2006

how the fuck can you leave off Slide Away and Live Forever? Those are the two best songs that they have ever written (with Champagne Supernova and Don’t Look Back In Anger).

Especially when you put Half The World Away and Rock ‘n Roll Star, two shitty middle-of-the-road songs.

  41. Hasief  |   Posted on Sep 11th, 2006

The REAL tracklisting, apparently (from http://www.nme.com/news/oasis/24277):

    1. Rock ‘N’ Roll Star
    2. Some Might Say
    3. Talk Tonight
    4. Lyla
    5. The Importance Of Being Idle
    6. Wonderwall
    7. Slide Away
    8. Cigarettes & Alcohol
    9. The Masterplan
    10. Live Forever
    11. Acquiesce
    12. Supersonic
    13. Half The World Away
    14. Go Let It Out
    15. Songbird
    16. Morning Glory
    17. Champagne Supernova
    18. Don’t Look Back In Anger

oasis have made a rod for their own backs in not doing a best of before – so many tracks to pick from. they should have done what those irish shysters westlife do and release a best of every 2 albums…actually westlife and best of is an oxymoron. still should be a good album even if they have jumped on the marketing waggon and added a new track on so the fans with all the albums still have to buy it – apologies for swearing on here by mentioning the irish gimps, even if they have lost the fat one.
