Ah, those Brits. They hate the emo, and loooove their Gallagher brothers. Accordingly, Q‘s latest Greatest Songs Of All Time poll has resulted in the dumbest list ever, with Oasis claiming the #1 and #2 spots (“Live Forever” and “Wonderwall” respectively), as well as #20 “Don’t Look Back In Anger.”

Incidentally, the alleged absence of “Live Forever” from the band’s forthcoming best-of Stop The Clocks is apparently rubbish. Oasis have not revealed the tracklist. But if you can guess it you win a prize.

Anyway, here’s Q‘s top twenty so you can collectively roll your eyes.
1. ‘Live Forever’ – Oasis
2. ‘Wonderwall’ – Oasis
3. ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ – Nirvana
4. ‘A Day In The Life’ – The Beatles
5. ‘One’ – U2
6. ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ – Queen
7. ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ – Joy Division
8. ‘Stairway To Heaven’ – Led Zeppelin
9. ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ – The Verve
10. ‘Paranoid Android’ – Radiohead
11. ‘Angels’ – Robbie Williams
12. ‘Like A Rolling Stone’ – Bob Dylan
13. ‘There Is A Light That Never Goes Out’ – The Smiths
14. ‘London Calling’ – The Clash
15. ‘Hallelujah’ – Jeff Buckley
16. ‘Billie Jean’ – Michael Jackson
17. ‘With Or Without You’ – U2
18. ‘God Save The Queen’ – Sex Pistols
19. ‘Comfortably Numb’ – Pink Floyd
20. ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ – Oasis

there are some good songs on there

  2. It’s nice to have a list that doesn’t have either ‘smells like teen spirit’, ‘bohemian rhapsody’ or ‘angels’ as it’s greatest song ever over here, so I applaud Q.

  3. Oh for fuck’s sake. How is it that Oasis has 3 songs in this list and the Beatles have only 1 – and there are better songs than “A Day In the Life.”

Lists like this are stupid on purpose, so that people will go out and talk about them and generate buzz for the magazine. Therefore, I’m shutting up now.

    9. Bittersweet Symphony
    10. Paranoid Android

Bittersweet symphony is placed above, and therefore deemed better than, PA. Bittersweet fucking symphony, the tritest, crappiest, crap crapper craptonite GAHH
    That hurts my scrotum.
And to think I was born in that country; looks like I got out in the nick of time.

  5. joho  |   Posted on Aug 28th, 2006

That’s not even the best Oasis song. The Masterplan is. Fuck this list is so stupid it changes every year with Radiohead, The Beatles, Oasis, and Nirvana always switching positions.

    mad fer it life style

  7. Stephen  |   Posted on Aug 28th, 2006

Wow, I’m surprised no one has commented that a Robbie Williams song has been deemed better than “Like A Rolling Stone.” Fucked up.

  8. I love, love, LOVE “Bitter Sweet Symphony” but even I won’t put it anywhere close to that. Have the Brits never heard of black people? I’d put Signed, Sealed, Delivered up against anything any day.

  9. Vyral  |   Posted on Aug 28th, 2006

Excluding all the British (especially Oasis) bias that Q, and for that matter NME, always has this list is a really obvious and rudimentary best list. “Smells Like Teen Spirit” Not Nirvana’s best song by any means, but is an obvious Nirvana song. “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out” is always the Smiths song on these types of lists. Bohemian Rhapsody, Stairway, God Save the Queen are always on best songs lists.

Just don’t read Q magazine, people.. it’s turned into a rock version of “Smash Hits”, and it’s been total rubbish since the late 90s.

I’m sorry, everyone seems to be overlooking the real reason this list is completely disposable:

    11. “Angels”–Robbie Williams.

Above Bob Dylan, The Clash and Michael Jackson? I think not. Thanks and goodnight, Q.

i agree with it, fuck radiohead

  23. Usually the best part about these lists is when they get cool musicians to contribute their faves and list ‘em and their specific comments. It was cool to see musician faves like the Small Faces & “Waterloo Sunset” ranking really high. But they do it every couple of years. How different can they be from year to year?!

  24. Sean  |   Posted on Aug 28th, 2006

Jeff Buckley could release another posthumous album today and it would instantly trump anything Noel Gallagher has ever written.

Also, what is the modern English obsession with Nirvana? They were decent and one can certainly credit them with starting an awful, awful subgenre full of terrible, terrible bands. Honestly, where is the credit to Sonic Youth and the Pixies when you need it?

  25. Paranoid Android beats the shit out of most of the songs, and it’s not even Radiohead’s best song (I’m partial to Letdown). Let’s turn this around to a Radiohead discussion! Fuck Oasis!

  26. Heh. I misread the post initially, and thought it was a “Dumbest Songs of All-Time” list, and i was all like, ‘yeah, i can see it.’

Incidentally, where *is* a list of Dumbest Songs of All-Time? That might be the only unmade list left in rock history.

  27. picatta  |   Posted on Aug 28th, 2006

well we can see which side of the blur vs. oasis feud that listmaker was on.

  28. Beetlebum  |   Posted on Aug 28th, 2006

where are jeff buckleys Acquiesce, Masterplan, Half The World Away, Let’s All Make Believe. they don’t fucking exist because buckley will never be the calibar song writing gallagher senior is for obvious reasons and never was. definitely maybe trumps grace with ease. one album changed the face of a country and inspired a movement while the other was sold to some semi trendy kids in the mid mid 90′s, who started some shit bands.

    Mad Fer It

  29. Sean  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

IF you actually believe Gallagher has any songwriting gravitas then you’re simply an idiot. Damon Albarn always had the upper hand in the Blur vs Oasis feud. Buckley could write a better song than Gallagher RIGHT NOW and the kid is dead.

  30. Kevin  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

There are some good songs but, brit music journalism dont know shit about music.

  31. Hey no Kaiser Chiefs? They are the best brit rock band of the last 20 years! Fuck those limey bastards!!!

  32. Um, Hi.
Hallelujah is a Leonard Cohen song.
    Philistines.

  33. Where’s Arctic Monkeys?

  34. most any other song by u2 is better than “one”. i wish they’d stop playing it live.

  35. David  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

And how about this: Not a single chick on the list. Where are the ladies? Yeah, I know not too many spring to mind, but think about it.

  36. sean  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

    seriously, no rolling stones???

  37. Additionally, what about Greensleeves? Hugely popular and great song there. Greensleeves is almost part of the genetic makeup in English speaking countries.
Let’s not forget that humans have been writing songs for thousands of years.
Oh, wait, right, Q magazine is the UK equivalent of Rolling Stone, which no one in the States with any modicum of discernment takes seriously (anymore).
The Greatest Song of All Time will be determined when we can invent the time machine and poll people from all the times, future included. What are the greatest songs of 1752 according to the people of 1752? Or 400 B.C.E? Or 3987?
In every country around the world, in every language?
On every possible planet containing life that has evolved to a point where making music is possible or necessary?
This poll shall now be called the Greatest Pop Songs by White People in English on Earth Since 1965. I am counting Michael Jackson as white, btw.

“Oh, wait, right, Q magazine is the UK equivalent of Rolling Stone, which no one in the States with any modicum of discernment takes seriously (anymore).”

    you beat me to it.

  39. Live Forever wasn’t even the best song on Definitely Maybe(IMO that was Slide Away). The irony to these things is I bet 20 years down the line you guys will still be bitching about Oasis. Get it through your heads, Oasis will always be popular in Britain. It’s now 12 years on and they are still phenomenally popular.

And as for Damon Albarn having the better of Oasis, I’ll beg to differ. Blur has 2(3 including Gorillaz) #1 singles to Oasis’ 8. Blur has 5(6 including Gorillaz) #1 albums to Oasis 6. Oasis hasn’t had a single debut any lower then 4 since 1994 when Cigarettes & Alcohol was released. Oasis also has 2 US top albums, something Albarn never accomplished.

  40. popscene  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

This list is bollocks because the UK music industry is 10 years behind the US industry and no one in mainstream music in the UK will change anything because the people in control are making alot of cash selling crap. They have it sewn up cos there are only about 3 radio stations to listen to. We don’t have the benefit of a respected number of blogs and a sub-mainstream culture which wields a bit of influence and power like the US does. That genre is pretty much unrepresented in the UK, as somebody said NME and Q are both just smash hits – NME is smash hits with ADD and zero consistency, worse than Q. DiS is the only thing worth reading (unless I’m missing something – please tell me if I am). This is a ramble but this list is embarrassing and its not necessarily the fault of the lazy, spoon-fed public of a musically fascistic state. And finally, the UK scene just seems to have a very banal pallette at present.

  41. Tony G  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

    Maybe Bob Dylan is right.

  42. Ben B.  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

The Verve breaks the top ten with the most simplistic, boring song ever to usher in an NBA playoff season?!?!? That song makes me want to blow my nose in my cheerios (which, incidentally, is a better lyric than “Ican’tchangeIcan’tchangeIcan’tchangeI’can’tchange”)

  43. THE CAGE  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

live forever, WW and DLBIA are fantastic songs.

leave your hatorade at the front door.

    and i tell this knobers – I’d rather walk…

  44. Sean  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

Wesley, no one said Buckley wrote ‘Hallelujah’. Though his rendition does easily trump Cohen’s (even though I am a Cohen fan). I was referring to his songwriting on the other 99% of his music that doesn’t involve a cover.

James, I wasn’t referring to sales when I said Albarn & CO won. I was referring to the fact that Albarn is a superior songwriter [proof = he didn't write any songs called 'Magic Pie']. Of course, if you want to go to the sales side of life…Demon Days outsold Don’t Believe the Truth easily (6 million worldwide compared to 3.5 million).

  45. Buckeye  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

Although I like Jeff Buckley, I believe 99% is a little high as to the rest of his work that are covers. On Grace alone, three songs are cover songs(hallelujah, lilac wine, corpus christi carol), and on the 2004 legacy edition of the album 8 out of the 13 new songs are covers….. although i think grace is a pretty damn spectacular album as a whole, he still does not have the sheer volume of songs written to be compared to a gallagher, which actually probably says more good about buckley than gallagher….

  46. matt  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

FAO Popscene… Wow, mate, you honestly couldn’t have it any more wrong. The list is bollocks because it’s from a poll in a rock magazine — and thus more-or-less identical to every other poll in every other rock magazine, ever. Don’t get worked up about it. As for relative music scenes — I hate to break to you but “blogs and sub-mainstream culture” wield absolutely zero influence or power in the US. Check out how many records Sufjan, or Tapes N Tapes, or whatever you consider non-banal, sells here, or how much radio airplay these groups get. Yeah, not very much. As flawed as they are, the BBC and NME mean independent musicians get instant access to the mainstream in a way absolutely unheard of in the US. (Also, the equivalent best song list over here would be very similar, just with more Tom Petty.)

  47. Sean  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

Even given the small amount of comparable works, I still declare Buckley the winner. Sorry, but Gallagher’s songwriting basically consists of 2-4 original lines + the chorus repeated ad nauseum.

You have to understand, this is coming from someone who LOVED LOVED LOVED Definitely Maybe when it came out, felt What’s The Story was a decent follow-up and became downright concerned upon release of Be Here Now. Everything thereafter has been so profoundly disappointing I can’t even discuss it.

Noel himself admits his songwriting is not exactly complicated.

  48. Q has no credibility  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

    ROBBIE WILLIAMS???

  49. Sean  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

so, according to this list, “angel” by robbie williams is a greater song than “like a rolling stone”, “billie jean”, and “with or without you”…apparently crack has become legal and widely used in england.

  50. I was referring to the fact that Albarn is a superior songwriter [proof = he didn't write any songs called 'Magic Pie'].

He also didn’t write a song called “Digging a Hole” or “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite”, so what?

I’ll still take Noel’s songs, “simple” as they may be, over all the too-clever poet rockstar wannabes anyday. Oasis’ last two albums were good, as the people who like to trash them now would know if they actually listened to them. Try it, as opposed to just reading a Pitchfork review.
Sure the lyrics can be silly and nonsensical, but in terms of classic songcraft he’s second to no one.

Now as for “greatest of all time”, these things are always pointless. But the authors are getting just what they wanted from it.

  51. most attempts at making lists like this are inherently culturally and historically skewed–

of course some british rock mag is gonna find that a british rock band in the nostalgia window of its readers is the greatest of all time…

  52. and if the Brits hate emo, then they’re at least right about one thing—but I never liked “One” either.

  53. I’ll shut up after this, but one other thing re Blur v. Oasis–and it’s not that I don’t really like Blur either–but their most popular song in the U.S. consisted of the words “whoo-hoo”. At least that’s all anybody remembers about them.

  54. Sean  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

So classic songcraft is defined by nonsensical and crap lyrics? Since when?

I’m not saying good songs never contain stupid lyrics/references, but the man is not even TRYING anymore. When your younger, considerably more idiotic brother writes the best song you’ve had in years (Blackbird), you need to seriously take stock of your life and wonder ‘Gee, maybe I should quit while I’m ahead’.

And I actually have listened to Oasis last few albums. I purchased them. I was hoping against all good sense that they would be good. They are, in fact, not.

As for Song 2, that’s not much of a point of comparison given the song itself was a parody of grunge. But yeah, I’ll still take it over ‘Layla’.

  55. Sean  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

I meant ‘Songbird’ by the way.

  56. jon.  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

at least every song on this list is good.
if the yanks did it you would have fuckin’ puff daddy, mase, guns and roses, tool, dave matthews, alice in chains and a bunch of other shite,
shit, rolling stone might even put in britney.

    live forever.
we’ll see things they’ll never see.
    brilliant.

  57. Beetlebum  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

you tell them jon. bringing up oasis vs blur is just silly by the way. you could never compare albarn to noel ever. they are very dissimilar lyrically. damon commenting on social issues in england while noel writes songs the world can understand. to quote noel a kid from brooklyn can understand cigs and alki. while the same kid will hear parklife and go wtf are they going on about.

  58. jinx  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

good to see other ppl realized the big mistake in the list… robbie william… pleasssee!

  59. Yeah, I’m American and was able to understand the underlying social conflicts conveyed on Parklife just fine?

  60. Evan  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

What Kip said. Of course they’re slanted towards British taste. They’re a BRITISH magazine and only people who live there read them regularly. Robbie Williams is MASSIVE over there. Like Elvis Presley massive. He’s the biggest pop star in the world everywhere but America, the David Beckham of music. And the Verve were incredibly popular in Britain beyond “Bittersweet Symphony.”

For the sake of arguement, I’d put “Don’t Look Back In Anger” above either of the first two Oasis songs given (though certainly not above most of the other songs listed) and replace “A Day in the Life” with Strawberry Fields or “In My Life.” As for no songs by women springing to mind as among the greatet of all time, I’ll name a few right now off the top of my head: “Horses” by Patti Smith, “Piece of My Heart” by Janis Joplin, and “Gigantic” by The Pixies/Kim Deal (not really a “woman” song but she sang it and played the hook and that bassline is, in my opinion, the ultimate perfect pop song melody. Really)

Obviously going by these lists (no Stones, no Beach Boys, Robbie above Dylan) is as arbitrary as the lists themselves. Bethooven’s 9th, that was a pretty decent song, eh?

  61. Ah, the Joy of Q. ANother month, another stupid list. Do you know what the Greatest Album Ever is, according to not just Q, but it’s readers? “OK Computer” by Radiohead. Fair call, a topic of debate certainly. But number 2? “The Bends”… and I’ve got a feeling “Kid A” was in the Top 10, if not the top 5. Basically, it’s all bollocks.

  62. Beetlebum  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

AJ, when i got into oasis i was 11. i am 22 now if i heard parklife at the same age i heard parklife i wouldn’t have got it at all. not to mention the song itself is pretty poor in comparsion to this is a low or tracy jacks.

  63. Beetlebum  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

  64. trammi  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

This is the funniest list ever because it’s so outlandishly ridiculous. Not even the biggest Oasis fan, (which I would consider myself) could even remotely consent with this list. I agree with the earlier guy though, ?the Masterplan? and ?Half the World Away? are far superior Oasis tracks.

  65. Beetlebum  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

my top 10 would be this

    shangri la – the kinks
    the masterplan – oasis
lost in the supermarket – the clash
there is a light that never goes out – the smiths
good vibrations – the beach boys
she bangs the drums – stone roses
    let down – radiohead
    beetlebum – blur
    jungleland – bruce springsteen
you never give me your money – the beatles

  66. northern_song  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

“Bittersweet Symphony” haha…that song is credited to Keith Richards and Mick Jagger.

    See “song credits” . . .
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bittersweet_Symphony

    This list is pretty laughable.

  67. Like A Beast  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

The best response from everyone would have been not to comment on this ludicrous list. Yes, I realize THAT comment makes me a hypocrite. The Beatles. 1 song. That’s all I have to say. The. Fucking. Beatles. 1. Fucking. Song. Like A Beast, 1, Q, 0. I WIN!

  68. umm, you obviously haven’t listened to anything recent by Oasis seeing as how you got two of their song names wrong–it’s “Songbird” not “Blackbird”, and “Lyla” not “Layla”. But I suppose you did that intentionally as some sort of clever ironic thing, or whatever.

“So classic songcraft is defined by nonsensical and crap lyrics? Since when?”

I was talking about the music, not the lyrics. I guess I should have been more clear, for some people anyway.
I’m an American, and I have to say that I’d rather have Oasis as my country’s top artist over the past ten years–instead of ‘N Sync or Britney Spears or whatever completely shit “musician” that we certainly have as our top seller.

The UK wins this one. As far as female musicians missing from this silly list–has anyone heard of a person named Joni Mitchell? That is all.

  69. Eric  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

I enjoy Oasis now and again. “Def. Maybe” and “Morning Glory” are fine albums. Off the top of my head, though, I can’t even recall how “Live Forever” goes. Their recent albums haven’t been so much bad as boring (yes, I actually listened to them! fuck p-fork). My favorite is “Acquiesce,” though more for the performance than for any songwriting craft. Both UK and USA rock have been getting their asses handed to them in brown paper sacks by Canadians, Australians, Norwegians … just about everyone.

  70. Sean  |   Posted on Aug 29th, 2006

Do you bother remembering the precise titles of songs you don’t like?

If you look above I corrected myself pretty quickly on the Blackbird/Songbird error…though it could have been a subconcious thing given the Beatles’ aping Noel is so guilty of.

I was under the impression lyrics had some bearing on ‘classic’ songcraft, but perhaps I’m in error. Regardless, I admitted a number of classic songs have silly lyrics…it’s just that Noel Gallagher isn’t creating a good framework for his shit lyrics. He’s surrounding his shit lyrics with shit music. A sort of shit-frosted shit-cake, if you will.

Regardless, even if you think Noel Gallagher is as great as you seem to, there is no way his song belongs at #1.

I’m sorry, but Oasis has not written they best songs of all time, anybody not remember Blondie. Heart of Glass, One way or another, Atomic, Call Me and Rapture are pure rock classics, in a league of their own, some 25 years later, BLONDIE still sound relevant and cutting edge, wait 15 more years and listen to Oasis, and tell me then who wrote and where they should be all time.

I’m amazed Heart of Glass always ranks midway on these so called lists, considering it sold 7 million copies worldwide, was #1 in the UK, CAN, USA, which none of Q’s top 15 acheived.

I agree with the Blondie comment. Rapture was pure magic, combining rock with what was then just called street rap, and made it mainstream. Not too mention Heart of Glass and Call me were both techno rock songs years before human league, new order, depeche mode even had any impact. The most sexual song ever written has too be “Atomic”, has Oasis ever done something as original or captivating as any of these songs?

    NOT….

  76. Retsi  |   Posted on Aug 30th, 2006

Oasis are an amazing band,(anyone who says otherwise hasn’t given them a listen :D , or only knows thier cheesy pop classics- wonderwall, dont look back in anger etc.) however live forever is not even oasis’ best song! let alone the best ever! Oasis’ best is the masterplan, definatly (. Anywho My list would follow:

    1) A day in the life- Beatles
    2) Strawberry Fields- Beatles
    3) Like a rolling stone- Bob dylan
    4) The masterplan – Oasis
    5) Bittersweet symphony- verve
    6) Across the universe- Beatles
    7) God save the Queen- sex pistols 8) Live forever- Oasis
    9) Watching the wheels- John Lennon
    10) Day tripper- beatles (Just because of the amazing riff!)

I’d like to point out the reason why so many of you are unhappy with the list is because Q’s readership is predominantly female which is why the lists tend to suck. I know the bulk of readers who contribute to make lists as dogshit-based as this are male, but bear in mind, they’re buying a magazine which put James Blunt on their Top 10 fucking records last year – therefore their opinions don’t mean a thing.

I think it’s high time people ditched Q for the watered-down pissy publication it has become. I used to be an avid reader of it back when it was great and had an understanding music apart from whatever cocksmoking young British upstarts happened to be en vogue that particular week.

    Q Magazine – it’s awful.

asis rockers Liam and Noel Gallagher are to launch a hotel chain in America.

The rock ‘n’ roll siblings are reportedly planning to use titles of their smash hits as room themes in hotels located across the US, including Miami, New York and West Hollywood.

A source told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: “The plan is to open as many hotels as possible by the end of 2007 and name each venue Supernova Heights, after Noel’s former home in north London. They want to base rooms at one of the Miami venues around ‘The Hindu Times’ song.”

Liam and Noel are also said to have got some of America’s most influential financial investors interested in the project.

The source added: “They will both fly to New York and meet a business developer who has worked for a string of leading property moguls, including Donald Trump.”

Despite the hype surrounding the plans, it appears some of Liam and Noel’s more wild ideas have not gone down well with developers.

The source explained: “Their plan to install alcohol and cigarettes in every room of their New York hotel, in honour of their track ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’ has gone down like a lead balloon because so many people are anti-smoking.”

what does that have to do with anything?

  82. cindy  |   Posted on Aug 30th, 2006

my first post to this blog (first time long time! lol)
i love oasis. they’re great live (although i admit i haven’t seen them since the tibetan freedom concert in ’95). But to not include a single Beach Boys song is a shame. Who the hell is this Robbie Williams anyways!? Beatles, Beach Boys, At least they got U2 right (one is my fave song ever)! What about some other classics like Crosby Stills Nash. And Jeremy by Pearl Jam used to always win best song of the year on MTV (before it turned to pop crap). And finally, Pink Floyd is amazing, but comfortably numb isn’t even their best song!

  83. yes!!! oasis number 1, like they deserve. there one of the best british rock bands going and even rival the likes of bands like ‘the who’ and ‘the beatles’ and list is accurate, if u ppl have a problem with it then u should have voted aswell. but complaint though. were is the coldplay music?? yellow should have made it on there or the scientist.

    Live Forever PPL!!!

Fully deserved for the worlds greatest band ever. Americans would know good music if it hit them in the face. There should in fact be more Oais in the list

  85. lol , i love oasis but that list is sooo fucked up

    robbie williams LOL

  86. mad ferrit  |   Posted on Nov 30th, 2006

live forever is the greatest song of all time i agree with that because its such an original song with a brilliant guitar solo and lyrics which choose to promote life over the death that kurt cobain woz showing the world!!! song writing doesn’t have 2 be complex to be brilliant its how the message comes across!!! americans don’t get the effect of oasis because they weren’t in britain at the time it came out!!! no-one else woz ambitious enough to break the world until oasis

i totally agree with the list!! except that penis jeff buckley being in there!!!

I think this is a good list but id like to see some Queen.

  89. James  |   Posted on Dec 16th, 2006

At least we can all agree on this, the list may not contain the greatest songs of all time in order, however it does display the best British bands of all time (The Beatles, Queen, OASIS, The verve) etc.

Everyone seems to be overlooking the fact that this list is all about OPINION. jus because some people don’t think live forever is the best doesn’t mean your right or wrong. These lists are there to cause discussion not for wankers to come on and slag off all the bands on it. Oasis are my favourite band an i’m not particularly keen on radiohead, but they still make good music. The best music comes out of britain (my opinion). Anyone who disagrees? lets have a chat about it.

  91. In all honesty I like some of the songs on the list, but never ever is it a good list, It´s some peoples opinion about a good list, bye far not a comprehensive list. So if somebody takes this list seriously as a “absolute truth” I pity them

  92. Gippo  |   Posted on Jan 4th, 2007

    shut up winging you yank

  93. Noelisgod  |   Posted on Jan 6th, 2007

yanks no nothing about music. probably cos they’re too busy eating to listen out for it. oasis > everyone else. that is all

  94. fucking americans

  95. oasis best band in the world  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2007

omg i cant beleive people on here are sayin oasis shoudnt b number 1, live forever is the best song in the world no doubt about it the lyrics are amazing and wonderwall wat can i say its just class. Even oasis songs they have never released are better than sum on the list like rockin chair 1 of the best songs ever aswell. oasis r the best band in the world, liam gallagher is the nuts and voted icon of the 90s and noel gallagher is a genius. People need 2 get there facts rite before writin down shit.

  96. craid  |   Posted on Apr 27th, 2007

well, i loved the 1st and 2nd spot! (just to piss you idiots who care so much about it, off!) Oasis are a great band, as are The Beatles, plus loads of others on thr list. Wot i hate though, is people who vote for Nivarna! just a dead smack-head! only famous for killing himself….yeah, thats tallent innit! only hiped ’cause he’s dead, not like Lennon – TRUE GENIUS!

  97. jimbo78  |   Posted on May 7th, 2007

  98. Markyboy1874  |   Posted on Jun 7th, 2007

Its a list made up by guys like you and me, with their own fucking opinions. Yes we’ve heard of black artists who in themselves have writtin classic songs. Ray charles, nat king cole, p diddy….:-s but for reaching out to masses of people getting worldwide recognition (apart from the stupid fucking yanks). I’m not so fucking sure. So keep stuffing you faces yanks, and supersize this…FUCK YOU.

I’d just like to say to the cretinous and bewildered chav up there that said British music was “behind” American music should invest carefully in the following:

    1) A brain
    2) Ears (preferably two)
    3) A computer that doesn’t make him type inane frogshit.
