Here’s a theory: What if LonelyGirl15 is Cassie? She says how people were so mean to her and goes on and on about this girl, and then Daniel keeps saying how he doesn’t know who she’s talking about. What if she used to be ugly, got hot, and is now planning an elaborate scheme for revenge?
Or maybe Cassie was her sister who killed herself from the humiliation of school and now Bree is seeking revenge upon her tormentors in an effort to avenge her sister’s death!!
This all has to be some set up for something big. Maybe she’ll post a video of her torturing Daniel or something. (Afterall, she does get pleasure out of killing those bugs…)
I know there are tons of holes in these ideas, so don’t even try to nitpick and prove me wrong. They’re unlikely, I know.

i’m a bit ashamed, but ever since I read Virginia Heffernan’s article in the NYTimes I have watched nearly all the videos, trying to look for a revealing sign, be it lighting, cinematography, or editing (i’m a filmmaker) to reveal it’s a fake… but so far, 0 clues (besides the fact the production values are super good)…
… If the Daniel guy wasn’t so – how should I put this – unattractive, I’d write it off quickly as a fake, a promotional vehicle for teen actors or something. Esp. if they used an Abercrombie & Fitch type of guy. But that’s not the case…

How could anyone, for a second, think this is real. I’ve seen 1 and a half episodes and have never seen more obvious glam camera-molesting. i would love to see the odds on real:fake, i would stake my vast fortune on it. That’s not to say it isn’t a clever idea.

I’ve been reading Mr. Stereogum’s stuff for years, even before he had this website. Back then, he was just a fellow LiveJournaler with good taste in music. This celebrity stuff has been part of the Stereogum world as long as I’ve known it. I’d be kinda upset with him if he ever stopped posting stuff like this, because he’d just be caving in and not doing what he enjoys.

I was already pretty suspicious, but this is by far the fakest video they’ve made so far. The whole thing is basically Daniel (or whatever his REAL name is) checking her out. He edited it, too. Why include the little unimportant blurb about this ‘Cassie’ if it wasn’t for a future storyline? And why would it be posted on LG’s account? Unless of course she likes checking herself out.
Which is nto to say I don’t love these videos, because I do, but I want more religious clues! It’s all about the debates in the comments…

This is obviously fake. Its postmodern advertising done by You Tube. I think its pretty genius. Think about the press this has been getting. For christ sake it had a write up in the new york times. This is all free publicity for you tube.
To me they just look like some bored 20-somethings that make up stories and drama about their so-called life to keep themselves entertained… and all the attention doesn’t hurt either. What I don’t get is why it’s so damn popular. Do guys seriously think the girl is that attractive or something? Are people really that engrossed in their “lives”? “Pre-taped” meaning it’s been posited that the original production of the whole series occurred over a few days or so, but the videos are being released over an extended schedule to make them correspond to the timeframe of the narrative. So sez the internet.

So either it was pretaped or it’s all ignored because the initial storyline is all that’s relevant, and discussing the hubbub would detract from it or at least break the “fifth wall” or something (fourth wall doesn’t apply because that’s broken by nature of video blogging itself).
