Guess what? Scissor Sisters love the Brothers Gibb and Elton John! For empirical evidence, you can stream every fabulous second of Ta-Dah at MySpace. We’re not sure that “She’s My Man” could sound anymore like Sir Elton’s “I’m Still Standing” without legal liability but, then again, they’re so chummy (and even collabed with Captain Fanstastic on the record) that we can’t see it coming to blows.

What’s the verdict? They tap that vein dry? We sorta expected the ’70s shtick to wane, but “Land Of A Thousand Words” is surprisingly sublime, and the dance anthems are in no short supply. We’d say we’re still waiting for them to become a caricature of themselves but, really, is that even possible?

  1. I wrote this in comments on Fluxblog as well, but there is an undeniable Paul Williams vibe on the album too (“I Can’t Decide” in particular) — they are the real life Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

I am so into Ta-Dah already I can’t stand it! God bless the Scissor Sisters! OK, I had to say that. Now I would like to say that I am surprised no one has compared it to Queen’s “A Night At The Opera”. Get this album!
