Brace yourselves for a trans-Atlantic blast: There are no American dates lined up (yet), but if the UK’s album charts are any indication (they are), The Fratellis will make a push to conquer your hearts and minds with their hooky, hokey vision of post-Libertines Brit rock.

The Glaswegian trio (with one real Fratelli and two surname imposters) played their first gig last March but have a swift-selling debut entitled Costello Music on their hands. Are you amused? Do you love it? Or are you like us and need to listen before you can confirm your preconceptions? Their better singles:

One more download at MySpace.

NME is all over these guys, stating, “Costello Music will wrestle with [Kasbian's] Empire for your soul over the next few weeks.” We think they have us confused with Noel Gallagher.

The mag separately dubbed “Chelsea Dagger” the “summer’s unofficial festival anthem.” If you’ve got a better tagline, we’re all ears.

  1. not bad, but certainly not all they’ve been made out to be (then again not much usually is)

definitely will win fans w/ the fans of Art Brut i’d imagine.

Henrietta’s a quality tune, and The Fratellis deserve your love. They rhyme “cola” with “gondola” for fuck’s sake…

not bad, but not worth ‘anthem’, either…

plus, when you say “Fratellis”, I think “the bad guys in Goonies?”

    No!

    They are terrible.

They lack songs or any sort of energy in their live performances.

  5. the album is amazing, every song catchy with a great hook, saw them live @ reading festival after a disappointing live show earlier in the year and they blew everyone away

    the fratellis?
    booooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnggg

  7. They are really scratching the barrel of british music. They then of course “roll out the barrel!” in their indie pub rock style. Big hairy balls.

“NME is all over these guys”

When isn’t NME all over the latest over-hyped outfit that sound exactly the same as the last band the NME were all over?

  9. I’ve been playing these guys on my show a lot… and I quite like them… I still am not sure between this and Kasabian/Razorlight/Larrkin Love/Sunshine Underground/upcoming Milburn/Young Knives etc etc etc etc which is best album right now (or even the best artist)… how about Dirty Pretty Things? Or Babyshambles… they are the both the greatest thing in the post Libertines world… except for Arctic Monkeys lol… who still reign supreme with the title of postLibs/postOasis/postJesus best new band lol…

Well, there’s a lot of downloading of singles these days and I understand why, however, give the band a chance and dont just rate them on their charting tunes if you like the genre I suggest you buy the album, look over the lyrics and sing along-its great stuff.
