We apologize in advance for the four minutes you’re about to waste. If it’s any consolation, it’s better than the version Moby rejected last month. And though she’s not in it, at least you get to remember how cool Debbie Harry was while you listen.

people thinking that their so smart and ironic, when it is just sad…..this is irony reversed or something

  3. El Payo  |   Posted on Oct 5th, 2006

I liked this better when Spike Jonze did it for Fatboy Slim.

  4. the very beginning is kinda funny, but that song is terrible

  5. mattshu  |   Posted on Oct 5th, 2006

the only way that could be more gay is if moby himself were in it being smart (because he is, he told me).

  6. dan s  |   Posted on Oct 5th, 2006

    I’m sad now.

  7. the constant moby bashing on this blog is depressing.

is this blog secretly republican? i don’t ever remember reading any anti Bush sentiment on here. or is it just an advertisers thing that makes this blog only make fun of “self important” musicians instead of recognizing that moby is actually maybe one of the good guys.

  8. Steve,
Moby may be one of the good guys. But, boy does he churn out a lot of bad music.

  9. ford  |   Posted on Oct 5th, 2006

what the hell does disliking moby have to do with being a republican?

hell, i know more republicans who like terrible music than dems who do.

steve, the presuppositions and prejudices that fill your post are silly and a bit scary.

there are people who like good music that happen to be (gasp) conservitive.

maybe you should spend more time around university professors or hollywood elitists if you want a homogeneous, everyone-agrees-with-me, community.

i prefer the flying discoball kitty.

  12. i love it

  13. you could have it so much better with spike jonze

Moby is such a hypocritical asshole, The dude is always dissing meat and corporations and the repubs but will quickly sell out and sell his music for use at Gap and mcdonald’s two of the biggest enslavers of the third world. FUCKING DOUCHE! and he’s always whining about something. I don’t know who could stand him and I’m a democrat. If it weren’t for these whiny ass bitches like michael moore and moby the democrats would actually have a foothold.

my god, we have been down this road so many times.

i actually really like moby. the music he made in the 90′s was pretty important in the progression of electronic music. “go!” is amazing and “animal rights” was a bold move, even though it was pretty awful.

i really like his politics, being a vegan myself, and i really dug his little “beef” with eminem.

but, sometimes you cannot deny that crap is crap. this song, “new york, new york” is godawful. it reminds me of that voodochild album he put out after 18. like a complete, awful early 90′s rave retread with no soul, no complexity, nothing but crap.

    this song is fucking awful.

but, i still like him as a person and will continue to follow him musically even as he dishes out garbage like this, and that awful public enemy song, etc.

one of these days, he’ll wow me again.

if you want proof that moby was good at one point, check out any of these fine gems from his catalog:

    “Go!”
    “First Cool Hive!”
    “Feeling So Real”
“God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters”
    “Hymn”
    “Move”
    etc.

Terrible vidoe, boring song retread. That’s it.
Besides, irony is so out right now.
