    boring. islands suck.

I like islands a lot but whats the point of breaking up the unicorns and making a band that sounds just like them???

  3. I wouldn’t go as far as to say Islands suck, but for the amount of attention they seem to be getting, I was expecting more. A lot more.

  4. Is this way out of sync for everyone else?

i think islands and the unicorns sound way different.

  6. Love the song, love the video. It’s one of the few videos that exceeds my expectations.

  7. This looks like the job of Paper Rad. No wonder it’s so awesome.

  8. I’m an Islands fan, and if you say they sound like the Unicorns you haven’t listened to the whole record. There are similarities surely, but they aren’t that close sounding.

P.S. This video is enjoyable. A little different. But honest the animation is almost too bad for me.

“i think islands and the unicorns sound way different.”

That’s funny because if you listen to Island’s “Swans (life after death)” it starts with the melody from “William, Clap Your Hands” the Unicorn’s song on Unicorns Are People Too.

islands are bound to sound like the unicorns cause IT’S THE SAME GUYS. i don’t think they dissolved the islands so they could go in some radical new direction, just a better one. whats not to like anyway?

The Unicorns was a group of three – of which one of the main songwriters dropped out of the band, pretty much because they were on the verge of fame, and he decided it wasn’t what he wanted.

The other two formed the Islands – hence the similarities and the differences, and probably why its not quite as good as the Unicorns – every Lennon needs his McCartney.

Islands are a lot better than Unicorns, in my opinion.

both bands are good. the unicorns were sweet live band, and islands are a great live band as well.

of course there are similarities (for example, happy melodies with darker lyrics). islands don’t experiment with song structure as much as the unicorns, but they experiment a lot more with instrumentation.

on top of that (and if you’ve ever seen the two bands’ live shows you will probably agree), the unicorns had a more more punk edge to them. islands, however, has more of a country-ish sound….particulary with the drum beats. when you see them live, this comes out even more.

Just want to say that the Islands music really brightened my day!

If ever anyone needs a break from the fame of Islands, then head up north to BC and hang out.

Would be nice to hear some of that Teenage Hairdoo material if its still there somehow.

    Mich
