Variety reports that a biopic on Debbie Harry is in the works, and that the starlet in talks to portray the Blondie singer is one Kirsten Dunst. It’s a role that’ll take more than kissing Spidey and being a party-girl French queen, so we wanna know if you can think of someone more fit for the job. Gwen Stefani, maybe? Depending on how you define “fit,” we’re leaning toward Elisha Cuthbert — ’cause she seems to have what it takes.

Elisha would be amazing, at least visually. Young Debbie and Elisha are somewhat similar in appearance. Can Elisha play a rock star, that’s the question.
Kirsten Dunst? EW. NO. She’s looking worse and worse, these days. And she just seems like she’d be terribly annoying in the role. But, of course, they’ll probably cast her. If only we could convince them…

Kristen Bell aka Veronica Mars could do it. Although she may be too short/petite.
Plus, she did pretty decent karaoke version of “One Way” in Season 1.
Elisha played “rockstar” in that weezer video, and that didn’t turn out so hot. But yeah better her than Dunst, i say.
I never got this anti-Kirsten Dunst trend. No she’s not a goddess like some women in Hollywood, but she’s got the girl next door quality. That said, she definitely isn’t as beautiful as Debbie Harry in her prime, but she could still play the part, as could Cuthbert.
But doesn’t playing a singer like debbie harry entail actually singing. Sure the look is important, but then again zooey deschanel is playing janis joplin, despite looking nothing like her. I actually haven’t been able to think of anyone, the closest I got was mandy moore, who did one way or another on her coverage cd, and kind of looks the part.
Yeah, I can picture Cuthbert lip-synching ‘Heart Of Glass’ more convincingly than Dunst.

i dont hate Kirsten Dunst because she looks one way or another. I hate her because she cant act (and is also clearly a dunce if you’ve ever seen her interview)
If Elisha could act, then sure.
I say, stick with teen flicks and Weezer videos.
The role would not suit Kirsten at all.

If we’re voting though, put me down as anti-Dunst (not usually but definitely for this) and pro-Cuthbert (not necessarily for this but just in general).
Kirsten Dunst would be a horrible choice to play the hottest rock chick in history. I don’t think she has the edge, quirkiness and charisma for such a role but I’m sure all of these young hollywood starlets would pursue getting this role to the end because they’re obsessed with fashion and a movie on Debbie Harry would be a huge punk and new wave fashion fest! My choice would also go to Elisha Cuthberg cuz she is hot and looks like Debbie more. I even think Mischa Barton or model Amber Valleta would be good too, just not Dunst. Michelle Pfeiffer would have been a good choice for this role when she was younger. I wonder who they would cast to play Andy Warhol in this movie?

I love Debbie Harry and Elisha Cuthbert wud be a good choice to play her visually, but I don’t think shes a great actress. No way Kirsten Dunst, please don’t get her to play debbie! I think Michelle Pheiffer wud have been a perfect choice maybe 15-20 years ago.
