Just one week after the lamest SNL episode in 15 years (give or take) our favorite Kazah recording artist injected some life into Saturday Night. The setup: sweeping budget cuts force Lorne Michaels to sell the first five minutes of the show to the Kazakhstan Ministry Of Information. Watch here. Some of the jokes are recycled from last week’s London premiere, but we hope you agree it’s too early for a backlash against the politically incorrect reporter. Cultural Learning’s of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan isn’t even out yet! Plus, how many of you are gonna be Borat for Halloween? We thought so. The accent’s easy, and “throw the Jew down the well” is less offensive than Bill Maher. So enjoy Borat now before “Jagshemash” becomes the new “motherfucking snakes.”
Oh, and “Schwing! It means the phallus is erect.”
P.S.: Beck brought the puppets for “Nausea” and “Clap Hands,” but NBC and Interscope hate YouTube, so you’ll have to wait for a repeat.

The whole episode was by far the best SNL since the Jack Black one last year (which featured the Chronicles of Narnia video). See people, it helps when you get an actual comedically trained actor to host instead of some retarded teen star or athlete. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hugh Laurie had a hand in a lot of the sketches, he is a funny man. Loved his “Protest Song,” “girl all we gotta do is…mmmfff….mmemem…”
I went to 2 different Halloween parties over the weekend and must have seen 9-10 Borat costumes, none of which was particularly good. The over/under was 7 and I took the over, so I did at least get a Heineken out of it.
most of his best lines on snl (“like a wizard’s sleeve:)were straight out of the movie.
the best bit was during the closing credits where borat goes down on hugh laurie right before they cut away.
Hugh Laurie was great. Too bad his song isn’t on NBC.com.
the john c. reilly episode was not that bad at all. there been a dozen worse episodes in the last few years.
Did anyone see him on the TODAY show this morniing. I was watching in Chicago and wanted to know if the interview went much past the point where he was saying “homosexuals no longer have to wear blue hats in Kazahkstan,” since that was te point my local affiliate cut him off.
SNL has gone to shit, but Beck was fantastic on the episode (I’m all about the rhythm guy flailing around) and hugh laurie tried, and did as well as he could seeing as a seth meyers led writing team couldn’t write their way out of a paper bag.

So, during “Clap Hands”, they never showed the puppet while Beck was playing the harmonica. I need to know: DOES THE PUPPET BECK PLAY THE HARMONICA OR NOT?
Best opening EVER line on SNL: “And now, live from New York, home of the Jew (exaggerated frown), it Saturday night!”
He plays the harmonica! In concert, the puppets have mini instruments of all kinds: harmonica, maracas, tambourine, etc.
That episode was actually decent. Too bad Weekend Update has gone from the strongest part of the show back to the weakest.
Does SNL have a laugh track now?

Hugh Laurie was the best part of this show. It’s just a shame he didn’t have writers who could make the most of the great talent they had to write for. The drag skit was funny though.
