While we were being blown away/surprised/disappointed/nostalgic at Mercury Lounge, our friend Abbey Braden was one of the many troopers that turned up at the 7PM door opening to Sub Pop’s much-hyped Bowery showcase. The bill was solid top to bottom, featuring one of our favorite acts (The Thermals), one of the marathon’s most talked about acts (Loney, Dear), and one of the torrent-trading community’s most popular acts (you know whom). And speaking of — they didn’t go on until 1:30AM! Yeesh. But Abbey is nothing if not dedicated, so she stuck it out and snapped these amazing photos. Everytime we’ve seen The Shins we’ve walked out disappointed, but we’re hearing some good things about this show. If you were there — or have seen ‘em recently — let us know how Wincing comes off at the club.

I hate CMJ.
I hate the shins.
I hate sub pop.
and I LOVE the music of the thermals. But I hate them. A 3 piece punk band from Portland that almost never tours and when they do show up, they play shows were a $500 badge wont get you in, or play parties at a time when I have to work to get said $500 badge. I hate those people.
I hate cmj.
ha, they played at my school last spring for free
