Three lovely ladies from Tampa collaborated with London-based punk-funk producers HardFeelingsUK and put a banging EP of party hip-hop, mixing old-school flow and real-deal singing with booty-shaking beats, and it’s our current get-up-and-go-out soundtrack. “Fuck that shit” is as much as we can memorize on our favorite cut “Club Action,” but we’re alright with that. Your DJ nights need this track:

Here are two more from Yo EP:
If you wanna see ‘em in action, check the vid for “Club Action” and “Hustle Mode”. No label for the ladies yet, and they’re hard at work on a full-length of party-starters. Should be a fun one in ’07!
Enjoy.

Yo – yes, these ladies deserve every bit of attention in the world. I’ve had the pleasure of hearing the rough tracks recorded for their full-length, and in the words of Busta – “Woo Hah!!! Got You All In Check”. 2007 will be the year of Yo Majesty – y’all better recognize!

Does It Offend You, Yeah?
Shala (DJ set)
Delicious rap lyrics set upon disco, new wave and soul rhythms define the unstoppable force that is YO MAJESTY. These outrageous ladies from Tampa inventively temper songs of struggle with faith, philosophy and sexuality, all under the guise of clubbed up party music. These pioneers of ‘punk-funk-crunk’ are not, not to be missed. Dirty UK electropunks DOES IT OFFEND YOU, YEAH? open, making their Chicago debut. Their club-ready sounds transfer suitably to the live setting, where their raucous live sets have earned them quite a reputation world wide.
