He popped his video cherry! Stereogum Artist To Watch David Vandervelde chose slow-mo strolling and lots articles of clothing for the dusty Bolan-isms of “Jacket.” Beyond that, nothing much happens, really — but it gives us an excuse to say how much promise we see in the precocious Chicagoan. Take requests, David? Do “Nothin’ No” next!

David Vandervelde is all about the '70s and relaxing whenever he can.

I’ve tried several times to get into his latest album but to no avail. There’s a few that are much stronger than the rest and I think that’s discouraging. I have trouble listening to the entire thing.. kind of has that “Oh this sounds like marc bolan…but isn’t so much influence as it is mimicking and that I’d rather just listen to the original.

    also, popped video cherry? terrible.

I’ll never forget when he triple-bogeyed the final hole of the Open in ’99 at Carnoustie to lose a 3-shot lead and giftwrap the title for Paul Lawrie. Better luck in the music business, mate.

  7. love this album-can’t wait to see his live show
