Following a superb set from Toronto pop-noir instrumentalists Hylozoists, the orchestral vibe grew more intimate with the arrival of Austin’s Tosca String Quarter, on hand to support Kurt Wagner’s gravel-voiced blues. The corner of sixth and I-35 may not have been the ideal venue for stripped-down Lambchop, but a few hundred believers made the trek for Kurt’s captivating performance. Wearing a yellow jacket and trucker cap, the singer/songwriter ambled on stage, placed his lit cig on the mic stand and kicked off a spirited set with ” The Decline Of Country And Western Civilization.” We recorded for ya.
