Unfortunate change of plans

We have just received notification of the serious kind which we reluctantly pass on. Over the past few weeks a person who calls himself Gerome Voltaire has been passing on material and images on his MySpace page as his own. Upon further investigation it was proven that this material was stolen from Björk.

Due to the serious implication of this matter, efforts are made to get that page and user removed, and Björk has decided to alter her new record’s sound and abandon the title Volta. This is truly upsetting for all parties concerned, all efforts are now made to meet the release date with new songs and artwork.

We here at have though the pleasure of announcing the new title, please go to our new special find out!

Har.

Stereogum didn’t do anything for April Fools this year — aside from the Cassadaga pan, which you totally fell for* — but if you guys saw any good blog pranks, post ‘em in the comments.

*Just kidding, we don’t like it.

  1. Good lord, what the fuck is up with that hideous cover? I’d heard people over at the Idolator talking smack about a cover [ http://idolator.com/tunes/album-covers/the-ugliest-album-cover-of-the-year-race-bjrk-has-an-umlaut-of-explaining-to-do-246651.php ] but that cover [which I didn't see the problem with] has nothing on this one! Seriously, what the fuck? That’s insanely bad. Please tell me the cover is a joke as well.

  4. Stereogum and readers, surely by now you’ve seen the actual cover to Björk’s upcoming “Earth Intruders” single and heard the fifteen-second sample of the actual song, with vocals:

  5. @ Fetussnowman, just because you grew up in a world without awesome record covers [thanks, MP3!] doesn’t mean there’s not a lot of us out here who really appreciate the art that used to accompiany our music. Ask Peter Saville or Vaughan Oliver if their work was “just a fucking cover”.
