You won’t find anything but raves all around for LCD’s set at Bowery Friday night, the first of two sold-out shows of straight scene. Drunk kids up front slam-dancing, hipsters against the walls nodding and posing. Cowbell-clanging linebacker James Murphy poured himself all over the mic, his toms, and his Soundsystem players, killing it in the role of ape-shit music-sponge party-starter. (Can’t stop thinking about that “My 30th-birthday cake was 30 lines of coke on a Roxy Music record” quote.) Seriously, despite looking pedantically pissed here, he was all about the dance-punk catharsis.

Last we saw Hot Chip at Bowery, Soundsystem drummer Pat Mahoney helped on the kit; Friday night, Hot Chipper Al Doyle returned the favor, turning up for LCD guitar duty (he’s filling the role for the rest of tour). Here, he headbangs.

Setlist was true to the old and the new, with a Joy Division cover (“No Love Lost”) in the encore. Reader Daniele sent us some YouTube of it, which you can watch here. Our ace photog Abbey is responsible for the awesome pics. More of her fancy framework after the jump, along with the setlist and some LCD tour dates so you can plan your lives accordingly.

Is James Murphy fat? I can’t tell from pictures. His head says yes but the rest of his body says not really. I know he does karate and shit.

    Great band anyway.
