This weekend, Stereogum will join the throngs of sunscreen-lubed festsetters in Indio for our very first trip to Coachella. There’s too much to see and not enough cameras to go around, but be sure we’ll stave off dehydration as long as possible and liveblog the best the weekend has to offer. This morning Coachella finally announced set times, so start planning accordingly. The flyers’ two misspellings (Roky Erickson on Saturday and Mando Diao on Sunday) = collector’s items! Check ‘em after the jump.

We know you well enough to know what you’re hitting. Instead … what are you definitely skipping?

  4. Chris  |   Posted on Apr 24th, 2007

Definite skips: Nickel Creek, The Noisettes, Peaches, Chili Peppers, Kings of Leon.

  5. Matthew  |   Posted on Apr 24th, 2007

skip: circa survive, ozomatli, the kooks, rhcp, the feeling (blech), damien rice, jack’s mannequin, fountains of wayne, peeping tom, nickel creek…etc.

  6. easy one…Mika.

It’s like playing one of these things is not like the others…I’m pretty sure I would at least consider seeing everyone else on the bill..even the Chili Peppers..and that’s saying a lot

Blonde Redhead followed by Ghostface? Amazing.

..would also love to see Sparklehorse

you really think that kings of leon is a definate skip?

    i hate you.

I was looking forward to seeing Kings of Leon, until I heard their awful new album. So I’ll be seeing Decemberists or Andrew Bird instead.

Lemonheads, Infected Mushroom, VNV Nation, Spank Rock. I like Spank Rock and Lemonheads, but COME ON!!!! Is anyone going to be at these stages while RATM is playing??

This is my 3rd coachella in a row and the first where I didn’t have to make any really tough choices between bands. Word!

  11. I have created a spreadsheet to make it easier to look at:

    http://www.daskonzept.com/music/Ryan/blog/coachella_sets.xls

  12. Definitely skipping Kings of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs, The Rapture, RHCP, Jacks Mannequin, Circa Survive, Fratellis, Fountains of Wayne, Mika, Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, Happy Mondays, etc.

I would skip Manu Chao, but there’s nothing else at the time, and I need the spot for Rage. Bleh. And I have to see Peaches to stake out a spot up front for Jarvis. Possibly Stephen Marley as well.

I don’t want to miss them, but because of conflicts I will miss Justice, Girl Talk, possibly JAMC, Faithless, Sonic Youth, Willie Nelson, Travis, New Pornographers, !!!, Tilly and The Wall, too many to list.

Ghostface and Arcade Fire are on at the exact same time.

That is the biggest travesty of the festival.

what tha?! did i just read that?! stereogum, the king coachella shit talker, is actually going this year? i’m stunned. someone must have given you a fully paid trip plus tickets.

at least now, when you go on and on about how bonaroo is so much better it won’t seem so sad.

this is almost more irritating than madonna was last year.

  15. Jarrett  |   Posted on Apr 24th, 2007

The two biggest problems I have with the lineup are the fact that Ghostface and Arcade Fire are playing at the same time, and the fact that Spank Rock and RATM are playing at the same time. I’m REALLY mad about the Spank Rock one. WTF. I’m also kinda mad about the Andrew Bird/Decemberists thing, but I’m seeing him here in Portland on the 4th, so… Whatever. Besides that, they really did a great job getting the acts right. I only have two difficult choices to make… and they’re not really even difficult, just heartbreaking. = (

i know! but hey, conflicts are bound to happen. but what the eff is with the 2 o clock start on friday? i know there’s less bands playing, but it sucks for us campers. what happened to gates at 11 and bands at noon

  19. derek  |   Posted on Apr 24th, 2007

decemberists/andrew bird conflict = serious soul searching.

  20. Arrhhh… how do they intend to have so many people in Mojave? I hope they increased the size of the tent…

  21. Well I’ll be. A friend of mine found those tickets. Poor guy ain’t gettin’ em back! Maybe if he posts his phone number I’ll call his cell phone and let him listen to Bjork or Rage (he only can choose one).

  22. Karma Police  |   Posted on Apr 24th, 2007

    Peter,
I hope you are joking bout those tickets. Karma is a bitch.

  23. Mando Diao and The Decemberists? I almost wish I was going. Maybe YouTube will have some good footage after the show.

  24. Karen  |   Posted on Apr 25th, 2007

Oh, I wish I HAD tickets so I could miss Rage. Too ragey. Yuck.

  25. harry  |   Posted on Apr 25th, 2007

goddamit…sparklehorse and RHCP at the same time…

  26. Alexis  |   Posted on May 6th, 2007
