Stuffing your face full of chocolate cake is hard work! So taxing that, after chowing down in “Breaker,” Alan Sparhawk has gone on extended video vacay, not even showing his face (or those of any other Low members) for the cross country skiing clip for “Belarus.” And apparently he’s still in relaxtion mode with this third vid, employing animator Scott Bateman to provide all the visuals for “Hatchet. But Mimi’s back in action; “Optimimi” means, aside for posing for these stunningly realistic cartoon portraits, Mimi takes over lead vocal on this reprise of the tune, turning it into a lo-fi, Beatles ‘n’ Stones era rocker. Sub Pop promises even more vids from the record — and if Low’s gonna rework the tunes each time, then Alan has our blessings to take the rest of the record off.
