Concrete Blonde officially called it quits last July, clearing the way for silken voiced siren Johnette Napolitano to focus on a solo record, which sees release this May on Hybrid. The Concrete brunette offers up ten original cuts and two covers, one of which is a take on the prototypical Coldplay ballad “The Scientist.” And she kills it.
Stream the entire record (which also features a cover of Velvet Underground’s “All Tomorrow’s Parties”) here. Scarred is out 5/29 on Hybrid.

didn’t this song appear on some soundtrack a few years ago?
or is it a different version?
Whoa, they need to be careful on this, the universe could implode in cylindrical reality! To cover a cover band (come on Coldplay, your not fooling anybody) practically MAKES her Bono!
Will Africa ever survive?
yeah, i’m with GIL, hasn’t this cover been around for years??
Aimee Mann did a cover of this a few years ago. It’s DOPE.
This was on the Wicker Park soundtrack. It’s listed as Johnette Napolitano and Danny Lohner.
umm, it was called the Wicker Park soundtrack from 2 years ago? Way to be current guys.
yeah, it was on the Wicker Park soundtrack but it still deserves to be talked about. I assume by “kills it” you mean “blows Coldplay out of the water” (which isn’t hard to do).
Her new single “Amazing” is available on ITunes right now and…it’s just as the title says. Love her.
Johnette is one of the most underrated singer/songwriter/musicians of our time; a true artist.
Doug ! you are so correct !!! I have said this for a long time buddy !
I LOVE THAT WOMAN!!!
She has one of the best voices around and she’s one of the best live acts you will ever see. a true artist in every sense. I have lots of respect for her.
does anyone know where to see her live anytime soon?
..she has tons of info on her myspace, will be in san diego and portland
I have loved this girl for years and years. Miss the band, but after all didnt “Johnette” really make the band. BEST OF LUCK to her and all she may be interested in doing. She could sing her ABC’s and I would buy it.
