There’s been rumbling about what the new Liars record might sound like, and though the band confidently claimed last time that Drum wasn’t dead, he is definitely on hiatus. The first listen of the forthcoming Liars has Angus, Aaron, and Julian thrashing about with abandon, relatively straight-forward as it may be. “Plaster Casts” unfurls with Drum’s‘ tribal toms and still more of Andrews’s head-voiced hollering, but this time the rock barrels with a low center of gravity — less airy with a smash of brutality.
