We’ve been curiously quiet about ’05 faves Art Brut’s latest release and to explain, well it’s actually not a bit complicated — as figured, Eddie’s talkie witticisms don’t have quite the same impact the second go around. Then again, “Post Soothing Out” is one of their best tracks yet. Guess it’ll take another night of Ed yelling “Ready, Art Brut?” to get us raving again (they’re never not awesome live, are they) … or maybe more vids like this. Debauched emperor Argos, cheerleading his hedonistic minions to take it to the dancefloor where they’ll no longer be scared to commit. Roman orgy, tearing the fourth wall to bits? OK Eddie, this one’s a direct hit. Do “Post Soothing Out” next please.

You’re right about “Post Soothing Out” being awesome…it’s by far and away the best song on the new album and probably the single best thing they’ve done yet.
Anyone know what the title means? “But I’m drunk when I text/So I send ‘post soothing out’”… Any ideas?
bad video
I don’t care what anyone says. New Art Brut? Top Of The Pops!!!
Why does Art Brut hate on melody?
I’ll admit that the first time I put in Bang Bang Rock and Roll two years ago and heard “Formed a Band,” it was one of the ballsiest things I’d ever heard. Despite spoiled punch lines, that album still holds up well. The new one…eh. For good reason, “new Art Brut” wasn’t something I was looking forward to. But I haven’t heard it enough. It’s certainly enjoyable.
What do you mean bad video? So many people on here must have been surreptitiously drugged and brainwashed by Downtown/Atlantic. It’s truly the only sensible explanation. This band is absolutely one of the worst of all-time. They are the blog gen’s Too Much Joy.
Here’s your chance to move on and pretend like you never cared about Art Brut.
Carpe diem!
^ What a pretentious douche.
Who, Eddie Argos? Absolutely.
i think all that tinfoil on their heads deflected all common sense when making that video
i love the new album almost as much as the first. i disagree with the joke album conceit. i mean Argos’ isn’t a joke songwriter, he’s a funny songwriter. reminds me of everyones same misconception of loudon wainwright (tho wainwright is a legend, and argos isn’t).
with all that said, this video is godawful.
Best record of 2007 so far, imo. Tighter band than Bang Bang, and Eddie’s just got “it.” It ain’t gonna change the world, but if you want to hear something interesting and clever for 45 minutes…
Actually, to stretch to 45 minutes, you’d have to listen to Nag Nag, Post Soothing Out, I Will Survive, and Late Sunday Evening twice…which you should do anyway.
