Remixer Phones has got a thing for that Ian Curtis sound. Or so shall we extrapolate from his decision to touch-up singles by Editors and Interpol within a half-year stretch. “The Heinrich Maneuver” gets some vocodered “Dance!” shouts, Justice synths, and tinkling piano at the fore for an extended intro, before Phones breaks out the Banks. Our Love To Admire was a topic of discussion at P4K this weekend — some disappointed, some indifferent, but most in love with “Heinrich.” To that latter set: Have a listen at Interpol’s MySpace.

the people who are hating on this record will be eating their words once they learn how to think for themselves and not judge based on pitchfork (who clearly missed the point with their review). the band made a really mature record, which is (i admit) easily dismissable if you don’t get past the “single”. i almost wrote them off until i actually listened to the whole thing, and now i think it may arguably be their best.
This album is horrible and everyone thought it was before Pitchfork even got the promo.
Come on, pitchfork are hardly the only people with a negative\lukewarm opinion of this album.. The whinging from fans who act like nobody has given this a fair chance and there’s some magical butterfly of a record waiting to emerge from the drab chrysalis if we just listen to it another 25 times is becoming pretty annoying..
This album is WICKED FUCKING GOOD.

Emmy, I didn’t like this album when I first heard it, and I loathe, hate, and despise Pitchfork. Admittedly, though, I have warmed up to it, to a degree. We’re not all slaves to the opinions of shitty music websites/blogs. It’s still not a great album, though.
I kind of like this remix. It really brings out his voice, which gives the vocals a new feel. He really does actually have a good voice. This sort of thing wouldn’t work with, say, The Killers.
This album is brilliant. It took me many listens to fully appreciate and love it, but it’s nothing sort of amazing as are Interpol.

I really do not like this remix. I stopped about 30 secs into it the first time I heard it. Finally made it all the way through and I still do not like.
I like the new record. I like it because I want to like it and I like Interpol. Do I wish they made a better record? Sure, but this will do.
Pitchfork is dumb. They complain about the dumb lyrics, well, that’s Interpol’s bread and butter: dumb lyrics. They’ve always been a little crappy hear and there. It is easy to figure out why the lyrics are never printed in the booklets.
I’ve enjoyed the new Interpol album as a whole much more than the new Spoon album as a whole since I bought them. Spoon’s has higher highs but there are just some shite, poorly tracklisted songs on Gaggagagagagag.
