To recap: Kanye West and 50 Cent both have albums out on the second Tuesday of September, poking both rappers’ insecurity button. Hijinx ensue. The host of BET’s 106 & Park proposed a presidential-style debate on 9/11 between Curtis and Kanye to determine who had the better album. Fifty accepted, Kanye called it the “stupidest thing ever.” Score one for Kanye (he makes a good point), and one for Mr. Cent (Kanye said “stupidest thing ever”). But Curtis is still chasing ‘Ye around the playground, recently upping the ante. Via SOHH:
Put it like this. Let’s raise the stakes. If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I’ll no longer write music. I’ll write music and work with my other artists, but I won’t put out any more solo albums.
A bold statement which may, in and of itself, ensure a landslide sales day for Graduation. Meanwhile, it seems Nike’s trying to capitalize on Graduation day buzz, with folks claiming the bruin on the album cover’s wearing a pair of fly McFly 2015s. I think 50′s claim is gonna back him into a corner. There’s no way a sales-conscious artist like him can make that kind of claim and then back out. He places so much importance on sales that any loss to Kanye would essentially signify the end of his career.

If Ralph Nader was putting out an album the same day, I’d probably opt for that. Fifty sucks and Kanye is pretty insufferable. Kanye + Murakami is just too much for me to get behind. Fukk that.

Kanye met Murakami a while back (he designed the multi-color Luis Vuiton print, Kanye is the self-proclaimed “Luis Vuiton Don”). He’s also supposed to be animating a video for the album.

I personally think Kanye’s single is stronger (pun intended) then 50′s “Amusement Park”, which was awful. Also, “Straight To The Bank” was just plain embarrassing, and that’s on Fitty’s new album too, right? Anyway, most people I’ve talked are really into “Stronger”, and really over 50. So I’m thinking his solo career will at last be over.
50′s got an out with G-Unit.. which I’m sure will turn out to be the Wings of hip hop if Kanye thrashes him in sales.

First, I saw the show… I have to say that 50 did not ask for a debate Rocsi(co-host) from 106 and park asked for the debate and 50 didnt take it seriously, but apparently the people blogging in here did, Kanye was on 106 and park and Rocsi was no where to be found when Kanye was there, secondly, Kanye WILL NOT OUTSELL 50, 50 is releasing is album world wide, on Sept 11… Kanye will not release is internationally until two months after Sept 11. 50 is way to smart to say what he said and not already know the outcome to what records sales will be…
The bet is obviously on U.S. sales. And where did you hear that Kanye is not releasing his album worldwide until 2 months later? That’s the dumbest thing i’ve ever heard. It’s gonna to be released Sept. 7 in Europe and Japan, BEFORE it’s released in America.

50 has more albums to do and he prob. CAN’T due to his contract retire. As usual this is a stunt. I am not a 50 hater, but I am soooo tired of his insecure a@s. Whenever it is time for an album to drop here he comes, with more drama.
50 is a insecure person who can’t handle someone else getting attention. he won’t retire, he’ll come up with some lame excuse as to why he’s not going to retire, as usual this is one of his publicity stunts. he’ll say we interpreted what he said wrong or something. OR if he sees sales are low he will probably go out and buy a rack of them so he can save face.
he is so lame anymore, he claims he don’t like Diddy (well who does) or Jayz then he turns around and performs with them on stage in NYC then he turns around and goes to the 40/40 club with them and Kanye.

BTW if it wasn’t for his two new songs his album would probably be crap. 50 even admitted that his last two singles weren’t being well received. on his new two tracks his lyrics are the same ole sh@t he always says but you can’t deny the beats are fire. the songs would have done good WITHOUT 50 on them.

Why would Kanye and DejJam buy their own record and think it would not go get out…. I am hearing so much ishhhh if Manye and Jay Z are doing that it would be the wackest thing in hiphop ever!!!!!!!!!!!
With a week’s hindsight, it’s pretty clear that Kanye will outsell 50 and, consequently, nothing will be impacted and Mr. Curtis will continue to do whatever he does now. Also, neither disc will be seen as the savior of the record industry or as a lifeboat for the hip-hop genre.
If anything, both releases have been upstaged by Soulja Boy’s “Crank That” which, even in white suburbia, has been inescapable for the past two weeks. With all of Kanye’s cross-breeding and 50′s Shady Music resources, they may yet fall against a beat that can only be described as steel drums playing a variation of a Super Mario Bros. theme.
