We know, a new Madonna track isn’t exactly an ‘event’ anymore (particularly after the decidedly uneventful Live Earth ballad “Hey You“), but there’s been enough news about her Madgesty’s rumored collabs for her forthcoming, eleventh studio effort that we figured a couple few ears may want to hear the direction she’s taking. So the first bit to drip from the as yet untitled LP has Esther try in vain to tread the road cleared by JT (Pharrell lends his “Like I Love You”ish choppy/strummy acoustic production, other songs promise Timbaland and Timberlake himself), with repeated lyrics designed to drill a hole in your head (“On and on and on the beat goes” … repeat ad nauseum, salt to taste). Obligatory backbeat ‘n’ vocals break, a Madonna shoutout for “instrumentation,” and out in 3:45. To her credit, trying out new looks has always been more flattering on Madge than it’s been on other ’80s-raised luminaries … which is about as backhandeded a compliment as we’ve got.

  1. Yikes. I haven’t even heard it and I already hate it.

  2. blows….and i am not just hating on her, i think her and stefani are in a mad fight to be each other, and with gwen’s last debacle of an album madonna has very little to rise above, does that make any sense. this song is seriously gross.

  3. this video is no longer available?!

  4. yeah, totally lame. hardly worth the blogspace it takes up. better than duran duran’s attempt, worse than the 7-day flu.

This isn’t a Sonny & Cher cover? aight. It still sucks. Madonna, wth happened to you? “Always the bridesmaid, never the bride” is designed to give people something to think about? Oh jeez she just said “wit chu” instead of with you. Instrumentation <– new lame buzzword meaning “shitty” of 2007.

    Try again Madge. Try again.

  11. yrmama  |   Posted on Aug 24th, 2007

come on now. stealing the acoustic guitar from “like i love you”? hate to get all gay on ya, but madonna did that shit first…remember “don’t tell me” on the Music album? ‘course ya don’t, haterrrrrr. seriously, do you really think this sounds at all like Gwen? it doesn’t. (i mean, its not like she’s spelling out words and shit)…and i bet that this isn’t even a single. it kicks ass.
btw, i agree with all the criticism of “hey you”. terrible.

  12. Why are people hating so much?!
the begining was a little lame but the song is pretty good.. I like, I like =D
I see myself dancing to it in my house.. then again it’s MADONNA.. so bow people bow!!

  13. Apparently the internet was not ready for this video.

  14. None of you know what the hell you are talking about. Madonna has never needed or tried to be like another artis. Gwen is a copy cat beaner whore. If anything shes tring to be a mix of christene and madonna. she should have stayed with no doubt. And believe me there is NO DOUBT GWEN SUCKS. And by the way madonna is a marketing queen you dont think she realsed this track on purpose. You wacth shell blow you all away just like she has done to the world over and over again from 1981. So reconize beoches. And GAY means happy you ignorant Hick why not go to school or somthing. she obivously knows what she is doing.

  16. primeau  |   Posted on Aug 27th, 2007

“None of you know what the hell you are talking about. Madonna has never needed or tried to be like another artists.”

Lee, you are seriously kidding right? No hate for Madonna, but pull your head out of her hairy cleft palette for a moment and think that statement through again.

  17. Kiki  |   Posted on Aug 27th, 2007

Ew. That was gross, primeau. AND hateful.

  18. D H Rogers  |   Posted on Aug 28th, 2007

It’s embarrassing. Being a life long Madonna obsessive, seeing and hearing her going down the US R’n'B route with all the same producers making the same music saddens me. She has so much intelligence and creativity that this attempt to get back into the US market completely alienates her fans. The vocals are weak, tune uncatchy and with a rap guy in the back yo yo’ing, I really hope this does not get released. Dont do it.

  19. Marco  |   Posted on Aug 28th, 2007

I think it’s as catchy as the rest of the lame ass pop tunes on the charts now. The fact that it’s Madonna is just icing on the charts.
You haters – get over yourselves, it’s a pop song already.

  20. Bianca  |   Posted on Sep 2nd, 2007

FUCK YOU HATERS!!! At least Madonna has a good voice unlike Gwen who copies others too!!! Not only does Madonna might talk about sex and stuff…but at least she has a life!!! And doesn’t waste her time like you guys!!! I love this song…ask all the 400000 fans on Madonna’s page on myspace!! Idiots.

  21. madonnafanof25years  |   Posted on Sep 3rd, 2007

Come on Madonna, You know how to Make and Write classic songs, I have been a Madonna fan for 25 years and this is the WORST ever track you have done!

Pharrell is crap and so is Justin Timberlake, Don’t do any of this rubbish!!!!!!!!!

  22. marko  |   Posted on Sep 4th, 2007

when i firs heard about madonna/timbaland/timberlake/pharell colaboration belive it or not i started to cry. i absolutely adore madonna and i don`t know what i`m gonna do if her forthcoming album is a failure like “American Life” (even though i really liked “American Life”).
madonna please fix “the beat goes on”. and please work again with patrick leonard on your next album.

  23. Some good comments out here…btw I am gay and I have ZERO intention of listening to that crap…Madonna needs to try something new, she has been trying to get Bjork to produce for years! Why has that never happened…? I mean it could be worse (Ja Rule could have produced it or JLo could have done the voice over) but it is really bad, I hope they don’t plan to release it as a single, and it is some sort of a marketing disaster. Very very sad, she has done bad work and good work, but this is just not right…

PS Gwen should just stop trying…and let us remember her in No Doubt…

  24. Jason  |   Posted on Sep 20th, 2007

This track was ‘leaked’ on purpose, to throw everybody off track. This is not the real single, and may not even be an album track. Madonna would never let anything leak to the internet. Doesn’t anyone remember when “American Life” came out, and faux tracks were leaked all over the place. It’s a clever marketing ploy, and it’s working.

  25. BOYTOY  |   Posted on Oct 12th, 2007

UMM…. RETARDS THIS WAS A LEAKED TRACK DEMO.. AS YOU MUSIC ENTHUSIASTS KNOW ANY RECORDING ARTIST PRODUCES UP TO 20 PLUS SONGS FOR AN CD .. AND OF COURSE THEY GO THROUGH THERE PHASES HENCE THE WORD DEMOS… THEN THE SINGLES ARE CHOSEN FOR THE ALBUM… BUT OF COURSE EVERYONE HERE ARE MULTIPLATINUM SELLING RECORDING ARTISTS. OR AT LEAST KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE MUSIC INDUSTRY…LOL

    BY THE WAY MADONNA RULES!!

  26. zaeid  |   Posted on Oct 14th, 2007

madonna has done everything in her life. any artist that comes after her will just be copycat? orgy is an orgy..cant have orgier. masturbate is masturbate..cant have masturbate-er…you know what i mean. so get a grip people she has been there done that. You and me…just sitting here watch her fame. Why she never wants to run for president when she is earning cash and fame and happy more tha anyone. So any more criticism? on what?

  27. prettyboy  |   Posted on Oct 14th, 2007

VMA now without Madonna? VMA 2007 = Britney?..ha ha ha. Music now? without Madonna..ha ha ha. Can someone name me a megastar out there?
    Justin, Beyonce + tempstar?

  28. Josh  |   Posted on Nov 21st, 2007

this is gonna be a hit madonna as always been so… yeh you all should really fuck up because shes a lot more richer then your white assess!

  29. Madonna’s reputation will stand even after this.

However, it IS her last album with Warner Music.

Did you ever consider the fact she might not want it to sell for that reason?

She has no reason to leave them with hits for them to make money once her contract is over.

She will concentrate more on Her upbeat dance/pop for her next album that will be released off Warner Records.

    And no matter what….

    Either way…

    It’s gonna Sell.

    So hate all you want.

  30. Davey Tom  |   Posted on Dec 19th, 2007

All the leaked tracks are rubbish. She should have never gone down the Timbaland/Justin route as she was always an innovator. I for one will not be buying it and I have been a die hard fan all my life. Shame on the woman for conforming to the disgusting urban scene that is taking over popular culture.
