Saw a nice outpouring of support for West Indian Girl when last we got to hear some new stuff, but didn’t want to leave you with just MySpace streams to sate your Girlish desires. We talked about how 4th & Wall‘s tracklist seems to have a water theme streaming through it, and how the album’s name is a reference to “an old warehouse surrounded by a humble community of homeless people living in cardboard boxes and tents” for whom WIG play regularly, but preceding all of that heaviness, you have to note they’re a Cali band (which may explain the watery compassion). And so “To Die In L.A.” sets a scene via title, and the sound’s perfectly on point too, like if Wayne Coyne went down to Malibu and spent some time beach bumming before hitting the studio.

Back by popular demand, the promo photo…

And, the music…

Swirly! And probably the most uplifting song you’ll hear about dying in Southern Cali. 4th & Wall is out 10/23 on Milan.

  9. holy ish now THAT’s the kind of girl you name a band after. makes me think of the adrenalin rush i get from closing my eyes and running red lights mixed with soft sheep. but the shorter ones, at just the right height.

it’s kind of disappointing that girls decide to gang up on an attractive chick just ’cause she has a great body. “hotties are trannies and plain janes are the shit”? if i were jenny lewis i’d get offended at the suggestion that i were considered a plain jane. jenny and mariqueen are both gorgeous. what’s wrong with that?

  11. The only thing that hot chick does live is play the tambourine. Constantly. On every song. I kept thinking, “man she’s really hot — but that fucking tambourine is annoying the hell out of me.”

That’s weird, I was at their last show and I saw both of the chicks playing tambourine. It seemed like the blonde one played tambourines when it wasn’t even necessary. Not only does the hot one play the tambourine but she wails like a possessed witch. It’s crazy.

If thats what a possessed witch sounds like and looks like, sign me up.

  14. I thought the name was a joke and there were no girls in the band, let alone two hot ones. Joke’s on me.

  16. I want to fuck that Indian bitch on the left. She is definitely fuckable and can gag on my cock. I so want to fuck an H1B Indian chick.
