Those Arcade Fire kids have been tackling Serge Gainsbourg’s ?Poupée de Cire, Poupée de Son? live for a while, so it makes plenty of Francophone sense that it shows up on a tour-only split 7″ with LCD Soundsystem. As might be expected, the Fire’s take has a bit more of a closing swell than the version France Gall made famous when she nailed the 1965 Eurovision. But note the similarly rollicking drums and string drama. It’s eerily like Gainsbourg wrote it for Régine to sing, too — though guessing Win wouldn’t be into Serge handling a rifle in his lady’s presence. Listen to the vinyl crackle over at Prefix.
