PB&J get around. And honestly, it’s pretty cool to see the band diversify and keep busy in light of what must be some sweet royalty checks from the ongoing “Young Folks” effect. John’s an in demand session player, missing tours and leaving Peter and Bjorn to go it alone (including that CMJ afterparty at Galapagos we stupidly left right before they hit) while Bjorn (né Björn Yttling) has popped up as an able remixer and producer of established (Shout Out Louds, Victoria Bergsman’s Taken By Trees) and burgeoning (Lykke Li) talent. And then there’s Peter, who’s been quite a man-about-town of late (or at least, everywhere we are): during CMJ at Vampire Weekend’s 11AM set and at Dan Deacon’s Bowery madness; at Shout Out Louds at Bowery post-CMJ, and at Jens Lekman at Webster Saturday night (Jens pics TK). At Galapagos, Peter told us how much he loved NYC and that he was living here for awhile (those “Young Folks” royalties probably help with rent), and working on a solo album with a Joe’s Pub date scheduled for November. Turns out that’s 11/19, to be exact. Buy tix at Joe’s site, which also adds:

Peter writes a lot of songs – too many to fit in the prospect of just one band with three songwriters so in his spare time he has recorded a solo album that bears some kinship with Paul Simon, Tim Hardin, Brian Eno, John Cale, Caetano Veloso, Robyn Hitchcock, The Go-Betweens and maybe The Shins? acoustic ballads.

You can hear three of Peter Morén’s tunes — “Twisted,” “My Match,” and “Reel To Real” — at MySpace. “Twisted” is a nice one, the Veloso coming through a tad with Peter’s distinctive vocals over a cyclical piano vamp and some Latin pop stylings, and “My Match” should have Joe’s Pub eating out of his palms. There’s a big Swedish contingent in the city these days; expect guests (though, that’s just a guess).
