So this is what Stereogum’s Halloween looked like: A bunch of us dressed like Feist & The Indie Rock Choir (Feist like the video, choir like Letterman), went bowling at The Gutter, drank too much, shed a lot of sequins, and ended up at a big art space known simply as 29 Wythe Ave. for a big costume party/concert with arty rockers Apes & Androids. It looked a bit like this…

Glammy theatricality isn’t exactly a rarity for A&A, but it was out first time with ‘em so we wouldn’t have known any better. Plus, they were decidedly zombified (as mentioned, everything looks a little better un-dead on Hallow’s Eve).

Anybody else see a band dress for the occasion last night? Dan Deacon making good on his promise to be Captain Crunch, maybe?

I went to see what was billed as “The Spooks” at Lenny’s in Atlanta, and it was the Black Lips, so that was pretty cool. The opening band, The Howlies (really great, by the way), wore little furry wolf caps, but they may always do that, given the name.

Went and saw Cassettes Won’t Listen at Union Hall last night who came out looking like he got his face sledge hammered, blood everywhere. David Cross was there dressed up like Tobias from Arrested Development in blue man group makeup and all!
