Wonder if newsman Brian had something to do with SNL‘s music guest casting Saturday night? Or maybe the 30 Rock crew watches Kimmel. Leslie joined NBC’s prime time anchor Brian Williams on what may be the last Saturday Night Live for awhile, making the jump from your Nano to the Studio 8A stage with a change of “1234″ wardrobe (background singers wore black instead of white!) and what looked like maybe a painful voice box; word is she was home for the past few weeks, resting a throat that’s seen a lot of work this year. Count along (last time we post this song this year, promise)…

At the show’s sign off, Feist gave Brian a big hug. Pretty cute. Williams did a good job, though his Daily Show and Conan appearances had us expecting as much. “I Feel It All” after the jump, plus Hillary’s Halloween party (Feat. Barack Obama).

Hillary’s costume party, uploaded to YouTube by user BarackObamaDotCom:

Wonder if Universal will try to get the account taken down. Oh yeah, superbad news: Writers’ strike means Jonah Hill won’t be hosting this Saturday.

Nerd alert time. The stage-right-most banjo player looks mighty familiar. Where have we seen this person before?

yeah i’ve listened all year to feist, like 1000 times (it’s true, check my last.fm). and I am even sick of her and 1234. now their using css’s “music is my hot hot sex” in the ipod touch ads, and I’ll get sick of them too. apple is ruining music for me for using awesome songs in their ads. ahh well…rant done.

  4. “feel it all” sounds good. intersting choice for her second, but they nailed it so thats cool. wouldn’t it be cool if her next record was AMAZING? i wonder what itll be like

    Tiny, speak for yourself.

  6. did you ever think that if Apple ads are ruining songs for you that maybe the problem is that you watch too much TV?

I’ve never seen the Apple ads with Feist, CSS or Fratellis. Too busy listening to music (and they don’t run Apple ads during soccer games apparently).

am I the only person who thinks that ‘Feist’ blows? what is the least bit interesting about her? and what’s with the 3 banjo players all playing the exact same parts? have you ever played a banjo? those things are loud! you don’t need 3 of them, just 1 properly mic’d will do the trick nicely. and what’s with the gaggle of 20 other people back there? the music is just way too precious for me, seems destined for Hallmark commercials. so much hype about her and this is what its about? I don’t get it. Brian Williams is funny, but I had to turn this episode of SNL off halfway through, it was painful. it would have been cool if they had him come out during Weekend Update and make fun of politicians or something, oh well.

Hey benj, ever heard of Brian Wilson or Phil Spector? Or maybe you’re just the brilliant producer that you pass yourself off as. Hopefully Feist reads this and hires you as sound man. Good luck.

i agree with g. i think it will be fun to watch how all the indie kids will start hating feist because a larger audience opened up to her. i recall ‘the reminder’ being praised by all following its release… should be interesting to see where it falls in the end-of-year lists (didn’t even make stylus’s).

the motto for most stereogum readers: it can’t be ‘cool’ if other people like it (i.e. radio play). now quick, go check p4k for updates, and come back here to bash on it in order to cleanse yourself.

I love Feist, but I’m extremely sick of hearing the same songs performed over and over again. Meh.

Just listened to Reminder after buying it months ago. It’s great despite my initial reticence (read: imaginary backlash). Good thing I’m more into not giving a shit about the myriad “Bands to Watch” on ‘Gum than being first on the block to dis artists anymore. Seriously, are those bands to watch built to bore?

hey, I had some simple questions and asked them. see, Brian Wilson and Phil Spector, neither of whom, I hope, is being compared to ‘Feist’, hehe, used large numbers of musicians playing varied instruments for a cumulative sound. the point I was making about this performance was that this is a fairly minimal song without lavish orchestration in the background, so what the hell were all those people doing standing around when they were making no noticeable musical contribution?

I don’t give a crap one way or the other, and am certainly not some kind of “hate it if its popular” type, I love a lot of music that’s way more popular than ‘Feist’. and no, I’ve never read p4k in my life and don’t particularly care to find out what it is. but I do have opinions, and like to share them when I feel like it, whether it pisses off self-appointed guardians of indie rock or not.

you didn’t mention cameos by horatio sanz or bono

  14. C’mon, people. If you’re getting agita over Feist doing “1,2,3,4″ again and being overexposed in the mainstream, remember this: Every time Feist is on the media is a moment that Britney isn’t.

Even if you’re sick of her, you’ve gotta admit that logic is some fancy cookin’.

  15. I’d rather people be overplaying a good artist than overplaying something that just plain sucks. And she;s not my favorite, but Feist is really talented.
