Duran Duran’s always had a flair for the dramatic, which is why we weren’t surprised by their recent Broadway stint or this epic new video for Red Carpet Massacre‘s first single “Fallling Down.” Holy Fellini! (Or is it more R. Kelly?) The drawn-out story follows a whiny, champagne-sipping Britney-of-old sorta-lookalike on her heart-of-darkness journey through a hospital run by white-suited and bespeckled Simon Le Bon and Duran peeps: Communal (in every sense) medication, sexy nurses, and even sexier patients who take cell pics, play cat’s cradle, and writhe a lot. Reminiscent of “Girls On Film” or “Rio,” or… any other video they’ve ever made, come to think of it. But this is definitely their most ambitious. During that extended intro, love the protagonist’s handler’s, “Give me the champaigne, baby, it’s not a good look.” We hear ya. So, drink-free, she trips on her broken heals up the path, and by the time she gets into the joint, is down to her underwear … all the more convenient for that bathtub sequence.

The Spears-y stuff grows all the more pointed and meta when you consider Justin Timberlake co-wrote and produced the puppy. Cool hospital, right? Magic Mountain meets the Playboy Mansion. The song? Oh, Cher. But we do dig that torrid pink guitar solo. Also, when the girl leaves, this time drinking from a proper flute, note her man’s blasting “Notorious.” Duran Duran is so awesome.

Red Carpet Massacre is out 11/13 (tomorrow) on Epic.
